feuervogel Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Wow ... price is reduced (lol)! 3.750.000 USD only ... A real "Schnäppchen" (saying in Germany). Anybody knows how many bf109 are capable to fly? Couldn't be more then a few, so price isn't so extraordinary probably.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) We could get a kickstarter going :D I believe the article mentioned it's 1 of 2 flying examples. I'm not sure if they meant 109's or Emils specifically Edited April 16, 2014 by driftaholic
DB605 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 We could get a kickstarter going :D I believe the article mentioned it's 1 of 2 flying examples. I'm not sure if they meant 109's or Emils specifically Only 2 original flyable 109's at the moment and they're both Emils. There's also handful of converted Buchons flying with Daimler-Benz engines (all G models). However there should be couple of more original flyable 109's in near future.
Sternjaeger Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) White 14 has a temperamental engine, and don't forget that the TBO on the DB601 is VERY low (we're talking ~ 100 hrs), and this is probably why it's up for sale, cos any work on the engine will cost you a fortune. So yes, you're looking at quite an expensive machine to run and maintain, quite easily more than your average Spitfire or Mustang. EDIT: the engine, airframe and prop apparently have 67 hours SMHO http://www.platinumfighters.com/#!bf-109e/c7r0 ..I'd still buy it in a heartbeat if I had the dosh Edited April 17, 2014 by Sternjaeger
LLv34_Flanker Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 S! I would buy it if had the moolah, even I could not fly it. That plane just is so darn nice looking
MarcoRossolini Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I wonder how much a flight sim earns... if everyone who'd bought this flight sim threw some money at that... well... (but then, who'd fly it?)
