Bearcat Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 4.12 Readme @ 1C from DT The Patch is not out yet .. but fior the readme to be released it has to be close. Hmmm .. Flight model changes- Updated flight models for P-36 / P-40 family, SB-2, B5N and Me-163- Introduction of mach related drag increase for all aircraft I hope that winds up being a good thing.. Scoring system changes- Added shared kills (?
BlitzPig_EL Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 The patch will be a major thing I do believe. The P 40 FMs are going to pull back their top speeds a little bit to a more realistic set based mostly on Australian data. The good thing is that the P 40s will see an increase in their rate of climb (finally) to levels attained in real life, again using mostly Australian data. As I recall reading the PDF that DT posted in November, from around 10m/s to 12ish m/s. For me the good news is the flyable Hawk 75. (Finnish version at first). It will leave a P40 in the dust in the climb, and out maneuver it as well, while still being able to dive at high speeds. The mach drag modelling will be a good thing as well. No more supersonic dives that no prop plane could ever do.
Rjel Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Why Australian data? I can understand not using Curtiss data but I don't believe USAAF flight test would be skewed, at least not based on what I've read concerning the P-51. Particularly when the pilots flying the early war P-40s were basically fighting for their lives.
BlitzPig_EL Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I'll have to pull up the PDF again, but I think the Australian data pretty much gives the best performance.
BlitzPig_EL Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Here is the quote from the PDF that was released by DT last November... We've found no less than 22 data sets, mostly top speed at altitude figures, but also somedetailed information, mostly British and Australian tests. Eventually we decided to go for thespeed performance as tested by the Australians, which seems to show the best performance atlow altitude, and planes are supposed to be modelled to best performance. Performancearound the full throttle altitude achieved with that plane appears a bit low in comparison withthe other data. The Australian test is coloured red in the above chart.4 Go to post number 15 in this link... http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=31724&page=2 to find the download of the PDF file.
Sim Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 What about Russian planes? Not a single FM change in this upcoming patch? I suspect TD have something in their contract that prevent any changes to the Russian side? Anyway, looking forward to the new patch.
