jollyjack Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) What is the best way of adding EXISTING items to an existing group, say f.i. an already EXISTING waypoint to an already grouped flight of bombers. Can you do that in the mission tree in a simple way? I read the manual, but IMO there's only talk of NEWLY placed MCUs etc. being added. Edited January 8, 2020 by jollyjack
Zooropa_Fly Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Groups can be a pain until you get used to them, and even then... If I understand you correctly, you can select the group containing the waypoint - select it and right click 'cut' (or 'copy' if desired). Then select the group you want it in, and you can 'paste' it there. Unfortunately you can't do any order / group management in the mission tree. S!
JimTM Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Habu posted a procedure for moving an MCU into an existing group. 1

Select and slide the existing group to an unpopulated part of the map, then un-group. Move the waypoint to the same area and re-group everything, then slide the group back into its original position. Having said that, I don't think it makes for good design practice.

IMO that doesn't work, but the tips above from JimTM pointing to Habu does, see below the line, BTW i added and changed it a little, please correct me.. (Pity you cannot use the mission tree for that pasting bizzinezz) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Procedure according Habu, slightly changed. (something to add to your manual Jim?): 1- Select the icon of the group you need items to be added to. 2- Push the key Control on your keyboard and select the Icone of C (IMO the Item to be added like an MCU) (it works as the windows file management). It will add the new selected object to the selection. 3- Create a group name Temp. You should have that settings Group Temp --> Sub group AI and 1 object which is C 4- Select the group Temp and do Set as working to work inside the group. 5- Select the group original group (see 1). ==> Select Move camera to object (in the mission tree). 6- Right click on the icon of the original Group (see1) and select Ungroup. 7- You should have all your elements in the group Temp. 8- Rename the Group Temp in whatever you want. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMO you can only select the new & modded TEMP group in the mission tree to rename it as it is not visible in the display yet. So RESET working group by right click on the display screen after that to activate it. Edited January 8, 2020 by jollyjack
JimTM Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) Here are some high-level processes to move an icon to a group or move an icon from a group (note that the icon can be a group icon): Move an Icon to a Group 1. Select the group and the icon and make them into a new group. Name the new group NewMyGroup, where MyGroup is the name of the original group. 2. Make the new group the working group. 3. Ungroup the original group. 4. Reset the working group. 5. Delete "New" from the name of the new group. Move an Icon from a Group 1. Make the group the working group. 2. Select the icons that must remain in the group and make them into a new group. Name the new group NewMyGroup, where MyGroup is the name of the original group. 3. Reset the working group. 4. Ungroup the original group. 5. Delete "New" from the name of the new group. Edited August 25, 2021 by JimTM For clarity, changed "Add" to "Move to" and "Remove" to "Move from". 1
