Greetings, pilots!

I just picked up BoS and am eyeing the DLC as well. I'm playing an IL-2 Career mode right now and enjoying it...but with a caveat: it's very same-same. Every mission is feeling like the last with little variation. So, a few questions:

  1. Are my missions making any impact on the campaign? On one mission if I take out 2 artillery guns and on the next one take out 21 targets (for real!) am >I< actually contributing to the next day and the map/flow of the war?

  2. Do the missions ever vary or through some curveballs your way? Go here, attack <this>, fly back gets old pretty quick.

  3. What advice do you have to maximize my enjoyment and potentially buy the other DLC?vidmate mobdro word counter

I appreciate your feedback! This is a deep simulation and I'm sure there are many layers. I just need some help in seeing some of those layers (light) at the end of the tunnel.

I fly scripted campaigns to keep it interesting. Pat Wilson’s Campaign generator is better than the single player campaigns included with the game so you might want to check that out in the 3rd party apps section. They have improved the offline single player campaigns lately but it is still fairly repetitive and lacking in historical content.

Between PWCG and the IL-2 GB Career Mode there is plenty of really good SP action.

I use both and never tire of either, and I fly SP only.

Between different types of aircraft there are different missions as well, I'm running a Moscow I-16 career in tandem with a Stalingrad Bf 110 career. The Bf 110 has given me free hunt missions where you go off in a pair and wreak some havoc as well. The VVS haven't trusted me to do this yet...

I really really want to like career, I want to fly formation with bombers and ground attackers.
I got a lot of duality feelings about MP, mostly frustration.
I simply cannot relate to career

MP experience does vary a LOT depending on what you do. But mostly WHOM you do it with. I've got some nice random help. But flying with a wingman/mate against other humans is an experience on its own.

First of all welcome to this forum!

As for your question above, I'm afraid the answer is NO, it does not, unfortunately.

To get the most out of this sim, I suggest getting VR, if you can effort it, that is. To me VR has been THE game changer. In VR, IL-2 is simply amazing.

Career can be indeed boring.

If you like single player, there are a lot of single player missions and scripted campaigns.

From the Soviet side, I like especially the "Fortress Stalingrad" campaign which have a lot of varied missions like searching for fleeing spy, protect damaged friendly ship etc.
