Reload acting funny

S! All

When I spawn in I can cock the guns. Flying I can cock the guns most of the time. Several times I get to a point where the gun will not cock or reload.  I have been able to hold the trigger and fire 300 rounds. It will still cock the gun. I have fired 4 rounds and the gun will not cock. It still fires but the reload command no longer works. I have had the gun jam after a few rounds and the reload does not work.

Anyone else notice this?

I noticed that guns can get damaged by enemy fire and made inoperable.  Did you happen to take hits before being unable to reload a gun?

If they overheat for too long they get damaged as well so I never use more than 15-20 rounds to down a plane.

Guns took no damage.

I purposely over heated the gins with a 300 round burst. Could still cock guns.

This is intermittent and I am unable to figure out what causes it.

Are you sure it's not a hardware issue? I've had buttons go bad intermittently like that.

Flying with alcohol is a court-martial offence.

Use the joystick calibration utility to ensure the relevant button has a consistent response.

S!

Have  both keyboard and joystick mapped to cock guns. If one fails they both fail so it is not hardware.

I usually don't have problems with the cock, though the triggering can sometimes be premature when at high propeller RPM, leading to misfires.

Still, I wouldn't rule out your problem being tied to ageing equipment.

I had that problem with my first girlfriend but you move on don't you. Anyway, it was a long time ago and not really relevant. Glad you're sorted Butzzell.

After a long layoff I'm just trying to fly a little bit.  What is the key to cock/cycle/whatever the guns?  Even better, what is the title in the settings menu?

Reload all guns, LAlt+R

That's under weapons controls

To enable screen reader support, press Ctrl+Alt+Z To learn about keyboard shortcuts, press Ctrl+slash

First of all, I don't fire long bursts; no more than a few shots at a time.  One pop or two if I can get away with it.  I usually strive to fly the guns precisely and shoot frugally.

That said, in the past two months I've had one total stoppage of both guns even before I got a chance to take my first shot; but that was after getting badly shot-up and I suppose it could have been damage related.  The button that cycles the charging handle did nothing; stopped working.  Both guns just went dead.

Another time, I had one gun stop firing and again the charging handle stopped moving.  The left gun kept firing but the right one was dead for the rest of the flight.

In the past two years I had maybe four gun jams during fights; but that's it.

Don't know what to make of it.  Doesn't happen often to me.  And machineguns do sometimes experience stoppages so I'm not uncomfortable with an element of uncertainty here.

Prosit!

Guns blocking was probably built into the modeling as fact of real life?

Again, there_are_no_jams in FC or ROF. :) All that is modeled are dud rounds that can be cleared by using the Reload command.

Guns failing to fire due to enemy gunfire is an entirely separate matter that should not be confused with the guns misfiring.

You forgot the exception of the Dolphin's wing-mounted Lewis guns, which are fitted with ammunition of exemplary quality, never known to have misfired.
