Rudo Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Why is it with my Microsoft Sidewinder ForceFeedback 2 the plane's engine does not respond properly like it does in IL21946? If I fly any plane in IL2 Great Battles the engine speeds up and then slows down over and over again, all the while i am just trying to cruise at 60% throttle on way to my waypoints. I leave the settings on simple engine controls and still encounter this problem. It makes flying this sim a chore, i cant figure out why it is doing this when all other flight sims my throttle works fine. I cant even taxi on runway because my plane will accelerate too fast because the throttle is not being recognized properly by the game. MSSFF2. Has anybody else had this problem and found a fix for it? TY.
bzc3lk Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Look for this ( Orange Square ) in your control settings, for the possible multiple control assignments on the same axis or key.
Rudo Posted December 24, 2019 Author Posted December 24, 2019 (edited) BZ thanks, i looked at that and i have no conflicts with my engine throttle. very wacky to see my plane's engine behaving like this, i cant cruise at 50 percent throttle it just races up and down like its a damaged engine or just not working right, the plane should be grounded, not fit for combat. I just tried flying at 40 % throttle, and the engine just raced up and down like crazy and when i put on Autopilot, AI had no problem with engine at 40% and engine did not race up and down like it does when I take over the controls!?#$% I also tested my joystick in windows and it is calibrated and working fine. I want to like this game, but this is a big problem for me and i cannot continue to support this game if they cant help me fix this problem with this game. I have no problems with any of my other flight sims, including IL2 1946 which is still play weekly. Edited December 24, 2019 by Rudo more info

Soilworker Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Can you try testing the axis for something else to see if the same problem occurs? ie: oil radiator (in a plane that has it as a manual control of course). Do you have another axis (eg: the throttle from a different joystick) that you can bind to throttle to see if that has the same issue? Seems really bizarre, at what rate does it oscillate? Is it a smooth transition or jerky? I'm not going to pretend I know a lot about fixing this sort of problem but a little troubleshooting is always a good idea.
Art-J Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 (edited) Rudo, you wrote "I leave the settings on simple engine controls". Does it mean any of cruise, throttle and engine "auto-helpers" in realism options? These tend to be a bit bugged and work somewhat wacky depending on an airplane, so that might be it (and for this reason alone you should really write which airplane you struggle with, otherwise we can't know what to advise next). Most folks here use full real settings, at least as far as engine management is concerned. I encourage you to giving it a try as well, for most of the aircraft engine management in this sim isn't all that different or much more difficult compared to legacy Il-2 series. Rudo Posted December 24, 2019 Author Posted December 24, 2019 No this problem was happening in all planes, Flying Circus and WWII fighters or bombers. Wow that did it! Thanks a Ton guys! I Had my Realism Settings set on Custom and had Checked On: Throttle Auto Limit, Engine Auto Control, Radiator Assist. So I Checked those OFF and left only Autopilot On. Now my MSFF2 throttle works perfectly in all planes. Kinda funny, I thought I had to leave those settings on to make flying easier, but as you said it may cause problems with some system setups, like mine. You guys are Tops with Me! Now I have a bunch of new missions to fly!...
