loscsaba86 Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Hi All! I am old / new at Il2. I played a several years ago with this wonderful game. Now I see, everything is new and modern. My question is: how can I install and play with the new version / versions? Do I need a Steam account? Or I just have to buy a package from the 4 (let say Stalingrad) and after payment I can install it very easy? How does it work? Sorry for the stupid quesition... :( Brg: Csaba
Elem Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Do NOT buy from Steam. Buy any module, Stalingrad is probably best, direct from the website store, download, install and fly. Simples.
Mac_Messer Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) There are two separate concepts of buying and installing IL2. 1) through Steam - you buy Battle of Stalingrad as a standalone, then you have IL2 on Steam. Then you can buy other titles - on Steam as DLC to BoS or - on IL2 Store as standalone - if you pick this option you will be required to link your Steam BoS account with IL2 store account or your IL2 store purchases will not merge with BoS. You cannot buy BoM, BoK, BoBP on Steam if you do not own BoS on Steam. 2) through IL2 Store - you buy anything you want and download and install the game via IL2 custom launcher; no linking of accounts needed. Steam provides a stable update and user platform for myself and many others. It also contributes in making the game itself more visible to the casual flight simmer. I really don't understand all the irrational hate expressed towards Steam...it got me into the franchise. 1
