Radar361 Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I am having trouble finding interesting subjects that haven't been tackled. I am working on this 66th Fighter Squadron repaint, and am pretty pumped with results so far. I should have gone to bed hours ago... but here is my start. I hope it is ok to post this here! Let me know what you think, as I only started skinning a couple of days ago. 1
Rjel Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 It looks like you haven't used the alpha yet to tone down the transparent look of the markings. Otherwise it looks good.
Radar361 Posted December 17, 2019 Author Posted December 17, 2019 Rjel, definitely need to work on the alpha a bit, I had barely messed with it on that shot. I got a bit more done tonight. I had to reposition the stars and bars, added the wing stripes, numbers. I have the names, crew information, and serial number and I will be done... well except for that alpha.
Rjel Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Just work on the layered Alpha as you would the skin. Go with the darkest grays for areas you want to be non reflective. Stay away from black as that will show up as holes in your skin. Once done, merge the alpha into a single layer and copy it into your skin's Alpha channel. You may already know this. If not, it really sounds more difficult than it is.
Radar361 Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 Other than tweaking the alpha, and maybe some nit picky things I think I am done here. I am pretty pumped and hope I did Lt. Angelone's plane some justice! If there is any interest I can try to figure out how to upload the skin for download. Tell me what you guys think! 2
