Stab/ZG26-Ruhland Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Just a small video of beating up 109s on the expert servers recently. If you didn´t come for the kills, stay for the music. Click me 5
Roast Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 That's some really decent shooting there, thanks for the video. Did you use the same calibre gun in all dogfights?
Stab/ZG26-Ruhland Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 @Roast Yes, I prefer the Vya-23 and used it in all dogfights shown in the video.
FuriousMeow Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) Youtube commenters, the dredge of the internet. Seriously, bad physics because "things blowing up off the plane" at 1:52. I watched it over and over again, the puffs appeared and continued to expand where they were hit on the plane and the puffs remained where they occured rather than following the airplane. I'm certain that person has never fired a weapon, even a paintball, at a moving target, and their experience with physics is either counter clerk or desk job. Edited April 14, 2014 by FuriousMeow
DocSnyder Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Nice shooting mate, awesome song. Wish there were more people enjoying the LaGG on the MP Servers.

Lextor Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) Very nice video, I'd love to see part2 Youtube commenters, the dredge of the internet. Actually, the elevator bounced up quite abruptly. I think its ok, buy may be it seemed unnatural to this guy. Edited April 14, 2014 by Lextor
Stab/ZG26-Ruhland Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) @Moew I guess he was talking about the elevator which shot upwards like a rocket. By the way, I am a bit confused about the explosions. I mean, when the HE-bullet hits, it explodes instantly. So, shouldn´t the explosions appear directly where the bullet hits the plane? At the moment, the explosions seem to appear 1-2m after the plane. 1:28 shows what confuses me. Edited April 14, 2014 by Stab/ZG26-Ruhland
FuriousMeow Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) They do appear at the point where they hit the plane. The plane is traveling at speed, the explosion occurs where the plane was - not is, and also the expansion would be where the round hit not where the plane is. They won't travel with the plane. So yes, you are seeing it expand after the aircraft, but you are seeing it expand where it made impact with the plane in relation to everthing else around it - like ground, atmosphere, etc. If it is the elevator, those are literally huge grenades hitting the 109. Clearly the physics expert has never seen how far a grenade can explode material. Edited April 14, 2014 by FuriousMeow
Stab/ZG26-Ruhland Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) Your explanation fits the effects of the smoke and I never had any doubt about their proper display in the game, but I still can´t get over the explosions. I am not that good at math, but if your explanation also applies for the flashes/explosions like they do for the smoke, doesn´t that mean that the plane must move faster that the speed with which the explosion expands? I don´t say that the explosions should move with the plane, no. I just think that they should appear much closer to the point where the bullet hit and then stay where they are. Or am I that wrong? otherlank Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Really nice shooting. What control setup are you using?

Actually impact effects can be offset due to network lag.. Did you see this offline?

I'm not sure what you mean. I didn't see flashes behind the aircraft, maybe youtube lack of quality? Also keep in mind, the actual explosions/smoke/etc aren't really calculated - those are just effects, the calculations will be round velocity/impact velocity/explosion capacity at point of impact/penetration/etc. Some of the graphical features such as hits or smoke are truly just visual effects, as that would require many super computers tied together to do just a few puffs of smoke or explosive expansions in real time. The flashes should appear where they detonate, but I didn't really notice those - I was only paying attention to the smoke and results of the detonation. Your video, though, was very good as was your aim and virtual piloting. Very impressive! Edited April 14, 2014 by FuriousMeow
71st_AH_Cujo Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Awesome to both music and video. Great shooting
Grizzly Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Great video, great shooting and fantastic ending. Nice flying dude!
SR-F_Winger Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Awesome flying and shooting. Cool Vid! Just take care that you dont rip your head off when you stick it out that far at those speeds:) 1
