garym05 Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Hi - I've recently re-discovered this great title and am looking forward to jumping in using my new-to-me TM Warthog HOTAS. The stick works fine, but the throttle doesn't seem to function in-game. I can assign the axis in the keybinder, but moving the throttle when in the sim does nothing as reflected both by the graphical throttle in the cockpit as well as the airplane control messages on the side of the screen. Even the deadzone/curve screen accessed from the keybinder refuses to display the results of throttle movement, which is odd since the keybinder had moments before recognized the moment and bound the axis to the command. The throttle works in other sims and the Windows control panel shows it working correctly as well...it just seems to be in the cockpit where there is a problem (the stick works fine, if that helps..it's just the throttle that has trouble). In addition to the stick and throttle, I have 3 other game controllers plugged into the computer (which wouldn't seem to be so many as to cause problems with the game, but I guess anything's possible). Any suggestions? I'm really looking forward to digging into this excellent sim, but it would be easier to do with a functioning throttle control. :)
garym05 Posted December 21, 2019 Author Posted December 21, 2019 I've managed to figure this out on my own, and am just updating this thread for future searching in case anyone else has a similar issue. The problem seems to have been caused by my throttle having been assigned to controller spot 10 by IL-2. I deleted some of the controller.cfg files in the game's install directory, and let it re-create them on the next launch. This time it seems to have assigned my throttle to spot 4, and everything works great now. So, previously my first 10 controllers would work fine (from ID 0 to 9), but the eleventh (in ID 10) wouldn't work. Forcing the game to re-acquire/assign ID's to the controllers and getting it to somehow see the throttle as being number 9 or lower fixed the problem. Weird, but it worked. Looking forward to enjoying this sim now!
