Jshek Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Is anyone else having CTD's on this map? I can play for hours in BOM, BOS, BOK. 5-15 minutes in BOBP and the game crashes. I fully reinstalled the game, fresh install and its still happening....
SIA_Target Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I crash consistently in the Combat Box server. Same as yourself, I'll last 5-20 minutes before the error messages come, usually something about 3D3 and out of memory. Many times I'll find that after validating the files on Steam I'm missing one. It doesn't fix it though, and I'm wondering if it isn't something to do with the linking of the 2 accounts.
Jshek Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 Only on BOBP right? All of the other maps I have 0 issues with. I get the same error as you...out of memory, something along those lines. I think there is a memory leak with the map. Even if I play a few too many quick combat missions on BOBP, I will get this error.
newbravado Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I'm getting D3D errors on all maps now. Just got one on a Moscow map WoL server. Play for 15 minutes or so, then freezes and I get an error message. Then CTD. I have to reboot the system afterwards. This has been happening for about a week or two.
Nocke Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 That D3D error is a typical symptom for a failing graphics card. Are you overclocking? Or is it overheating due to dust, perhaps?
newbravado Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 It's possible. I'll give it a cleaning tomorrow if I have time. Thanks for the advice. Next week I'm getting a whole new rig. Ryzen 3700x with an RTX 2060s. 16G of ddr4 and solid state drive. It's time to retire my old but dependable x9650 quad core extreme and gfx560ti (not overclocked) This was top of the line in 2007. My system has actually done well as long as I keep graphics notched down a bit.
Jshek Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 In my case, I monitor the CPU and GPU. With graphics on ultra and most set to high or extreme. Cpu is never over 40% utilized and GPU never exceeds 80%. I feel as it's a BOBP map issue more than anything else.
SIA_Target Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 (edited) New system here, if it was overheating, dust etc. it would happen across the board, but I can play on Wings w/out any problems. I'm going to try to get on Box later through the BOBP exe. that came directly from this web site. In other words, not through the Steam library, I have 2 other of the games that are Steam purchases not shown under my avatar. I guess access to those other plane sets will be unavailable during the time I'm playing via the official IL2 exe. since the Steam link is one way street, or so is my understanding. I'm wondering if the Steam link may somehow be the culprit. Steam likes to run a bunch of crap in the background if you're not careful, one being the friend app which I have yet to figure out how to shut off. Newbravado I have an RTX 2070, I don't like it, micro stutters in IL2. I'm not sure the newer RTX technology plays well with the older. Just my experience is all I'm saying. newbravado Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Lots of players are experiencing the micro stutters. It isn't system dependent. It affects old and new systems. I made some changes to my video card settings, I saw on a post, and the stutters have lessened, and now the game is playable. ...for now.
SIA_Target Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 What I meant by old technology playing with new is that the RTX card is using new graphics technology while the game is using old, the game hasn't caught up with the RTX card. I know some running 1080 Ti's w/out a hitch. I'm not sure if this is relevant, I just played for 30-40 minutes on Box w/out an issue, only difference was no Discord connection and I flew a Tempest rather than a P 38, which has been my go to plane in there.

I had 2 VGA cards, the RX 460 and now GTX1660 with the same error. Crashing on Bodenplatte map only. Always crashes on this map after a while playing. Bajzon20 Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 (edited) Same here I have this problem after i buy BoBP, never before i dint hace such many CTD`s and freezing, before that, i can play hours in BoS and BoK. Now, i have CTD if i play longer than 2 hours... At first I thought that the problem were aircraft models and their number in missions in career mode so I reduced all graphic details to minimm but the problem keeps coming back. The game generally maintains a stable 60 fps but suddenly starts freeze to finally get CTD. I think the map itself is not very well optimized for weak and medium computers. I have specs of my PC down below. At this moment, BoBP stuff`s is unplayable for me, to many crashes and freezings Edited February 23, 2020 by Bajzon20
