Uriah Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 So now that I have Oculus Rift I find it very hard to turn around enough to really get a good look behind me. I suspect that if far more realistic. I know I can't look behind me when I am driving my car like I can using TrackIR in a game. So, it seems the best I can to is check my 4 and 8 and do some S curving to see if anybody is really behind me. Is that about the best way to 'check 6' or do I have it all wrong?
MasserME262 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I actually find it easier to check my 6 without head tracker. I used to use my mouse for pilot-head-moving. Im struggling with the tracker that sometimes makes me want to go back to the mouse. Checking 4 and 8 like you say, make my eyes feel dizzy, Idk how to explain, but I guess that's the only way. The only thing I like from the tracker is the X and Y movement "inside" the cockpit (to check ground or instruments easier).
Cavalier Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 yeah that's about all you can do in VR and is definitely more realistic. The best way to check six is to have a wingman do it for you.
WWDubya Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 A trick a pilot showed me is to move your head like you are trying to shove your chin into your armpit. I find that it works fairly well wth VR. It's not a full 6oclock, but gets pretty close if you twist your torso a little, without snapping your neck off your shoulders. 1 1
Mollotin Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Trick is to turn also ur torso and not just head, Add some sideways movement there to see around the pilot seat or headrest and u get a clear view of ur six with VR. If u compare VR to real life u need to remember that IRL ur field of view is much wider than in most VR goggles so IRL u would not have to turn ur head as much as in VR so i dont really know about that more realistic part. I used to have HP Reverb and these tips are based on experience with that Headset.
WWDubya Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Quite agree... Your field of view does not change when you move your eyes, so more body English will be needed.
[DBS]Browning Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 A chair with a low back / no headrest helps.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 With TrackIR, snap views still work. With VR, 3Dmigoto adds additional viewing angles. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/39748-3dmigoto-mod-icon-masked-by-cockpit-zoom-for-vr-color-change-sight-strengthened13-features/
SCG_Wulfe Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I rely on VR instead of Yoga for all my stretching needs. ? Seriously, my back and neck has gotten far more flexible than it was when I first got VR.
Stoopy Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I rearranged my computer desk so that my back is to the wall. 1
