iPug Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I bought this game along with many others from IL2 and I'm perplexed with the interface. I don't know what I'm doing wrong as the game loads it goes through a very lengthy intro with music that I can't seem to get out as the camera pans around the aircraft. I'm frantically hitting every key possible to get it to stop and hope that I can get into the game. I finally hit a key and have no idea which one I hit, but I get in the game. Next, all I see is a huge map and nothing else. Again, frantically hitting multiple keys to see which one gets me into the game. Next thing I know, I'm in an aircraft and have no idea which one it is. I didn't select anything, just thrown into a plane. I can't see any options or menus in the game, I might see a partial menu hidden but it's not accessible. I'm so frustrated with this purchase as I spent over $200.00 for all the packages hearing how great this game is, only to find how frustrating and aggravating it is to access anything. This game is definitely not noob-friendly and I don't understand the interface introduction and why it has to be so lengthy and complicated to navigate the game. End rant.
FlyingNutcase Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 You'll get plenty of helpful guidance here very soon. I've got to depart now. Have patience - it'll be worth it.
HBB*Hunger Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 So the camera rotating around the aircraft is basicalle the main menu (propably). As it seems like you cant see the menu itself, maybe something with your resolution (or else) is wrong. What about checking your resolution settings inside the launcher and compare it to your screen resolution. Maybe you should also check, if fullscreen is ticked on. Im sorry about my english, as german is my mothertongue.
dburne Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 What HBB*Hunger suggested. Also stop frantically hitting keys, that will certainly put you places you have no idea how you got there. 1 1
MasserME262 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I expected some "then I frantically hit everything and suddenly I was in front of my class without any clothes on". Now seriously, that's how I felt the first time I played 1946. I thought the same Hunger said, a resolution problem doesn't let you see anything probably 1
ITAF_Airone1989 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I solved in this way: Change your monitor resolution setting, now you should see the menu on the right. If than the font is to small and you cannot read it well: Go into setting-graphic and increase UI setting (I'm not sure is UI, maybe something similar...c anyway you will find 100%, 125%, 150%, auto) 1
Stoopy Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 How about some info on the system you are trying to run this on... Laptop, or...??? What resolution is your windows desktop set to? Definitely do not panic and start mashing the keyboard with your hands. If you want to be a fighter pilot you gotta be cool under pressure, man.... 1 1
Sublime Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Hes just practicing mashing the keys in panic for attempted Pehska hunting Hes just practicing mashing the keys in panic for attempted Pehska hunting
PatrickAWlson Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 One possible experiment is to run in windowed mode at a resolution smaller than your screen. At a minimum you should see the menu. Once that is confirmed then the problem becomes playing with full screen settings. Worst case you can use windowed mode at full or near full screen.
Feathered_IV Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Deleting the Startup.ini and running the game again might help too.
Art-J Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 (edited) Google for pics of "Il-2 BoS menu", there's quite a few around. An airplane rotating in the hangar is indeed the main game screen, further options should be displayed on the right, similar to any video game nowadays. If you don't see that on your config, something's amiss with your screen/resolution settings. Now that I think about it, one step back - when you click the launcher icon and the small launcher window shows up (the one with red "play" button), I recall there is a "settings" button somewhere in that one as well. I would start there with setting up the screen resolution before doing anything else. Edited December 4, 2019 by Art-J
Jason_Williams Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Wrong resolution. He does not see the menu. Change to right res in Launcher. Jason
