Voyager Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 I'm looking at how to do flight planning and potentially streaming in VR, and thinking through how it would all work, I'm wondering if there are good ways to project about three 2D windows into the VR cockpit that are anchored to the cockpit. One would be a twitch chat window that could either hover at the periphery of my view, so it can be read without disrupting things, or be pinned to a note taking area inside the cockpit. The second would be a toggleable window to an E6B flight computer app for planning the navigation and dead reckoning. This could be set to an on/off button of some sort that could hide it when not needed. The third would be a virtual grease pen window for taking notes. The idea is I'd align it with the canopy, have the background be transparent, and use a virtual pen for writing notes, times to target and what not in it, as though I had a virtual grease pen that I was writing notes on the canopy with. I'm also thinking it would be good to have some sort of way of mirroring the Discord chat flags so I could know who was talking when I'm flying in VR on voice coms. Have people used things like that with IL-2? What sort of tools work best with the lowest impact? I'm currently on an HP Reverb, using WMR for Steam VR. Thank you, Harry Voyager
=SFG=capt_nasties Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 Open VR drop is what u need. Streaming in VR is tough because the display VR mirror is only 45 fps and VR streams are hard to watch even at 60
