No.23_Triggers Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 (edited) BE AN AMERICAN EAGLE - APPLY TODAYhttps://us3pg.enjin.com/recruitment Greetings, All! It is my pleasure to announce here in the Flying Circus forums that the 3rd Pursuit Group USAS is officially seeking new pilots to join our roster! We are a heavily historically-based SPAD 13.C1 squadron, operating on both European and North American time. The Historical 3rd Pursuit Group USAS Capt. Robert Soubiran, 103rd Aero Squadron. Formed in July of 1918, the 3rd Pursuit Group USAS consisted of four squadrons - the 28th Aero Squadron, the 93rd Aero Squadron, the 213th Aero Squadron, and the famous 103rd Aero Squadron of Lafayette Escadrille Heritage. The 3rd P.G has a rich history within U.S Aviation, with some of America's first combat pilots serving among its ranks. Upon America's official entry into the war, the pilots of the famous Lafayette Escadrille, the American volunteer squadron flying with the French air service, were transferred into the U.S. Army. The pilots were reorganised into a new American squadron - the 103rd Aero Squadron. As the United States Air Service grew, the 103rd was organised into the 3rd Pursuit Group, commanded by the legendary American aviator Maj. William 'Bill' Thaw, one of the Lafayette Escadrille's founders. The Virtual 3rd Pursuit Group USAS SPAD XIIIs of the 28th Aero Squadron In late 2016, a new Rise of Flight unit was formed, named the 103rd Aero Squadron. Quickly this new unit built itself a fearsome reputation. In 2019, with the official release of Flying Circus, the 103rd was joined by a new squadron, the 93rd, and shortly afterwards the 213th, to officially form the 3rd Pursuit Group USAS. We hope soon to activate the fourth, and final, unit of the group - the 28th Aero Squadron. We are a historical realism based unit, meaning we focus on developing Squadron Tactics, we take our Virtual Lives seriously, and we have a defined chain-of-command. In addition, our members take on the names of historical 3rd P.G pilots (For example, my historical namesake is Capt. G. DeFreest Larner of the 103rd). A big part of the fun is researching your historical namesake! All that being said, we are, first and foremost, out to have a good time! We are currently exclusively WW1-based, although some of our members fly other sims together. What happens when I join? Upon joining the 3rd Pursuit Group, you will start off with the rank of Corporal for your initial training. During this period you will get to know your fellow pilots and will begin your initial flight training and will learn to fly and fight in our unit's aircraft- the SPAD XIII. You will be trained in individual air fighting tactics, squadron tactics, gunnery, engine management, and more! Once you have gone through the initial training period, you will be promoted to Sergeant and assigned to one of our active Squadrons (the 28th, 93rd, 103rd & 213th). You will also be assigned your own personal Skin for the SPAD XIII, bearing the Squadron Insignia, your Flight markings (red noses for 1st, white for 2nd, and blue for 3rd), and your own personal fuselage number. While holding an NCO rank you will have the opportunity to be awarded the Médaille Militaire, one of the rarest medals in our squadron, and only available to NCO pilots! This can be done by shooting down 5 enemy aircraft within one virtual life (as credited by our in-house awards system). After a sufficient period of active flying with the Squadron you will become eligible for further promotion. From day one your name will be added to our Squadron Scoreboard, where we track pilots' victories on Operations Nights (Thursdays). After each Operations Night, we fill our after-action reports and submit our victory claims, which are confirmed (or rejected!) based on our own confirmation system, modelled after the USAS' historical confirmation rules. However, if you are killed on an operations night your score is reset to 0! Can you become your squadron's next leading ace? Flying with the 3rd P.G comes with several perks, such as: - Safety in numbers! Our pilots always look out for their wingmen. - Regular training nights every Monday, hosted on our private Training server. - A unique Great War aviation experience: Squadron-vs-Squadron Furballs, daring offensive patrols, an in-house claiming and scoring system, etc. Flying with the 3rd P.G offers a new and exciting approach to WW1 Flight Simulation. - A great sense of camaraderie! Despite our historical approach, we have tons of fun when we fly together. You'll soon know all the in-jokes! - Access to training manuals & videos produced by 3rd P.G members, designed to convert even the greenest pilots to hardened aces! - Access to our 'Tactics & Strategy' sub-forum, where we discuss everything from Lone-Wolfing tactics to full-blown Squadron vs Squadron strategies! -And, of course, your own Squadron Aeroplane, marked with a personal identification number and your squadron's markings. What are the requirements? The 3rd P.G is all-inclusive! We have no age or skill limitations - anybody from seasoned veterans to brand-new rookies are welcome to apply. That being said, the following prerequisites should be met before applying: - Members are expected to fly and work together during operations. - Members must have TeamSpeak 3 and a microphone. - Members are expected to have a reasonably 'mature' outlook. - Members must be willing to primarily fly our historical Squadron Aircraft during Thursday Ops Nights (SPAD XIII) You can find out more about us at www.us3pg.enjin.com, or on our Discord!TO APPLY, FOLLOW THIS LINK: https://us3pg.enjin.com/recruitment Edited February 9, 2021 by US93_Larner 4

BMA_Hellbender Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Hey, hello, can we keep it serious here for a moment? This thread quite literally serves the future of this multiplayer community. There’s no Entente squadron as gallant and as respected as the 3rd Pursuit Group, and if you have any wits about you at all, you should consider signing up with them, so you may learn the lost art of SPAD combat. Good luck, though, getting that camembert smell out of your uniform. 2
NO.20_W_M_Thomson Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Actually I know they need a bomber/recon squadron to escort, And I do take them serious, just having a bit of fun, I even subscribed to their youtube channel and watch them lots. something all you virtual pilots should do to learn how a squad can fly together. 1

No.23_Triggers Posted December 14, 2019 Author Posted December 14, 2019 We've been remiss in officially welcoming some of our new recruits. Allow me to introduce: Sgt. Bridgman, 93rd Aero Squadron. Cpl. Giroux, Unassigned. Cpl. Cauffman, 103rd Aero Squadron. Cpl. Bellows, 213th Aero Squadron. Cpl. Frost, Unassigned. Cpl. Baker, Unassigned. Welcome to the 3rd P.G, boys! Now go bag some Huns! A word on our current recruitment status: With six brand new recruits to the 3rd P.G, we have our hands full with training at the moment. As a result, we are considering temporarily pausing recruitment while we get the new pilots trained and ready for the front. Pilots are still welcome to apply, but it may take a little while for the application to be approved! 1

No.23_Triggers Posted May 31, 2020 Author Posted May 31, 2020 (edited) We have been remiss in welcoming our newest three pilots, who recently passed through basic training with flying colours and have now been assigned their squadrons! US93_RummellUS93_Rummell has already demonstrated his aggressive fighting spirit, facing overwhelming odds on several occasions and frequently being seen chasing enemy machines well into their lines, irrespective of any danger. Just one day after his official assignment to the 93rd Aero Squadron he proved this deadliness in the air, scoring his first official victory when he attacked two Fokker D.VII Fs alone, sending one crashing down to earth and the other running off with its tail between its legs! Not bad for a recruit just out of training, eh? US103_TobinAlso joining the fight is Tobin, who has now been assigned to the 103rd Aero Squadron. Showing the same fighting spirit, Tobin quickly brought down a Dr.I for his first victory on the 24th, following it up with a coolly-dispatched D.VII F on the 28th. Tobin had been a friend of the 3rd P.G, so we are very happy to have him among our ranks! US103_PattersonAnother plucky recruit to watch out for is Patterson - joining the 103rd alongside Tobin. An excellent marksman, Patterson accounted for a D.VII F in flames on his first patrol with his new squadron - before even being assigned his Squadron machine! Since then he has rapidly brought down three more Fokkers - all still while flying a machine borrowed from the 93rd. It seems that US103_Patterson will be a name to be feared before long! Salute, and Congratulations, Gents! Keep racking 'em up! Edited May 31, 2020 by US93_Larner 1
J5_Adam Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Congrats, Waggaz Rummel! Looks like the 103rd has an amazing training program! Kudos to your instructors! Salute!
J2_Drookasi Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Congratulations to the 3rd PG for the expansion and to the new pilots for joining this fine group. We shall have our quarrels in the air. 2
