  1. 1. Which best describes you?

    • I am mainly interested only in a specific aircraft or specific subset of aircraft (eg., Spitfire, Wildcat or twin engines, fighter-bombers, heavy bombers, etc.)
      11
    • Specific aircraft aside, I am mainly interested in aircraft from a particular country or faction (eg. U.S., British, Russian, Japanese, Italian, French, German, etc.)
      14
    • Specific aircraft or country aside, I am mainly interested in aircraft from a certain theater of operation (eg., Eastern front, Western front, Pacific front, North African/Mediterranean, etc.)
      10
    • I am mainly interested in aircraft from a specific battle (eg., Battle of Britain, Battle of France, Battle of Midway, Battle of Kursk, etc.)
      1
    • I am mainly interested in aircraft from a more specific time period (eg., early-war, mid-war, late-war)
      8
    • I am mainly interested in aircraft from a particular war (WW1, WW2, Korean War, Vietnam War, etc.) more than anything else - country, front, or specific time period less relevant
      55
    • I don't care, I love combat aircraft from any conflict, any time period, any war and can't choose an area of greater preference

Yes, I know there is overlap to some extent and a person may have several perferences that seem to fit in some ways - but of the following choices, which one is the single, most important to you?

For me, the single most important aspect was WW2 - though I do appreciate WW1, Korea, and the Vietnam war (and also fly and enjoy sims that embody these eras as well). Personally, I am not married to a certain front, faction, or battle within it (though I do have preferences within), if it is WW2, I am pretty much a fan! ? --if I were to allow the 2nd most defining preference (which I did not for this poll), it would be specific time period (for me: mid-war>early war>late war in general)

I went with WW2 as my favourite time era regarding to the planes.

If I could have voted 2 times, I would have going to choose "early war" to "mid war" time frame.

Basicly between 1916 and 1942, but for me also the interwar period of prop planes is a highlight with its own charme.

Planes I like a lot:

Tigermoth

Fiat CR.32

MC200

MC202

Ju86

Ju87

Ju88

B5N

A6M5

P-40 E-1

HE51

Albatros D III

Hurricane early

SM79

HE51

Bf109 E3-E7

Ju52

Fokker D VII

sorry for the long list, diffiult to pick only those, there are some more off course :)

Biases:

- I like ground attack (and low altitude flying generally - so helicopters & Su-22).

- I like combat from 1942 or earlier (high velocity autocannons and increasing wing-loadings & speed mean that maneuvering combat is less elaborate after 1942).

- As a Canadian I kindof got tired of all of these popular books (and sims) which only had American aircraft and completely ignored other interesting topics (it got boring after a while - even though I did go through my own periods of fascination with the P-51 and F-15 & watched the 'Memphis Bell' repeatedly).

I've been flying flight simulators for a quarter century... what I'd really like totally new experiences:

- The Adriatic in WWI (float-plane fighters) or a pre-1915 focus or the Spanish Civil War or the Battle of France

- A catapult launched observation aircraft (fire correction for warships)?

- An interwar experimental glider simulator (high performance German and Russian gliders particularly - Akaflieg Stuttgart F1 & MAK-8 anyone?)

- A simulator which had the Demoiselle, Farman (or Bristol Boxkite), Vlaicu II, Blériot XXIV, Dornier T.III & Etrich VIII - all done to modern standards of modelling!

P.S. If anyone reading this is a 3d modeller and feels like making either of the last two possibilities reality... PM me...

I'm mostly interested in anything between 1783 - 1945...
