  1. 1. Would you want C-47 / Li-2 as flyable aircraft or AI is OK for you?

    • Yes, I would like to have the C-47 / Li-2 as flyable aircraft in the BoX series

    • No, I think AI only is enough

  2. 2. If yes and if the decision was made to make it a separate collector plane (like the Ju-52), would you buy it?

    • No, I would not want it so much

I just went through the thread of the new BoN announcement. What a long read! ?

I am aware of Jason's post (below) which I understand and respect.

However, as a vivid C-47 virtual pilot in one of the mainstream civil sims (thanks Manfred!), I would definitely love to have the C-47 as a flyable plane in the BoX series. So let me build on an earlier poll below and ask you - the community - for your opinion about making the C-47 / Li-2 flyable.

Thanks for participating!

Twice "Yes" from me.

Have a nice day.

There are three types of transport aircraft.

1. Aircraft that came before the DC-3/C-47. These are quaint, but impractical.

2. Aircraft that came after the DC-3/C-47. These are practical, but boring.

3. DC-3/C-47s.

Just kidding. Well, mostly. And the C-47/Li-2 played a significant part in winning the war, even if mostly as a means of getting more aggressive stuff from A to B rather than delivering it directly to the enemy.  No doubt some will say that you don't need an air combat sim to fly a transport, and that resources would be better directed elsewhere. Personally though, I think  a C-47 (and ideally a Li-2) would help give a broader perspective to the simulation. As IL-2 GB grows, there should be more room for aircraft that not everyone wants, hopefully. Resource-wise, making the DC-3 flyable shouldn't be as difficult as say  the B-25, which they've already suggested might be possible. Meanwhile, I've got an X-Plane DC-3 parked somewhere obscure in Southern Sudan, making its way home on a round-the-world trip, so I can't really complain...

Any aircraft we get as AI will eventually become flyable... far better an AI variant than nothing in my book.

The game is evolving constantly, I'm optimistic that it will happen  :)

The Lisunov-2 has a lot of interesting variants... I don't think enough references survive for the version with two 45mm autocannons though... so probably just a fixed forward-firing ShKAS, bombs, and maybe rockets... plus a couple of types of turrets (7.62mm or 12.7mm)...

We need a plane which have the same feature of the JU52. So, yes to both question.

Yes to both question .  No question .  No problem to pay for it .

I would love to navigate to the correct drop zone at night, on D-day!

Airdropping supplies to the resistance...

Lots of cool missions for the C-47!

So you are saying we also need a Westland Lysander? ?

Strange questions... Right questions should sound like this: Are you ready to buy C-47 for $100? - 1) Yes 2) No. Or: Are you ready to change flyable "Typhoon"("Mosquito") to C-47? 1)Yes 2)No. Answer on any kind of questions like "do you want this plane in the game?" will obviously always "Yes" and shows nothing...

Yep, and cropping flyers over the Arc d'Triomphe would be a nice mission.

Or this: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2239241/Hero-RAF-pilot-Ken-Gatward-dropped-French-flag-Arc-Triomphe-Nazi-occupied-Paris.html,

Yeah, gliders:

Only if you want to insert your spies at active Luftwaffe air bases.  Don’t forget your wheels will be in wet cement if you land anywhere else in the countryside.  :(

Yes we need a match for the JU52, especially on those maps that let the LW drop paratroopers,  but... it is only fair to also give the LW something to match the Po-2.  Maybe a Storch?   I am sure 1C mentioned the possibility of artillery spotting once or maybe some servers might want to add a 'rescue the downed pilot' option ?

Agreed: a Storch is essential.

I didn't think I would enjoy the Ju-52 half as a much as I do, dropping paratroopers at night or just trying to find an airport at night is a challenge. I think it would be great to have a flyable C-47.

While we are at it can I request an SOE Lysander as well, those missions could be quite entertaining
