TheWarsimmer Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 (edited) So I played in the t34 that comes with the base Il2 in VR, and it was a lot of fun. I'm considering buying the game. Before I do, there are a few questions I have that I hope someone can answer. It's a bit tough to find documentation on these things. 1) Is there anyway to have the other crew members operated by the AI? For instance, could I take the commander position and have the gunner automatically fire, the driver drive, etc? 2) On that note, I seem to recall seeing something about an update coming where commands could be issued to crew and other tanks in your platoon? Is this the case? Do you designate targets and movement points? Does it work in VR? 3) I have never been able to get the turret to traverse. I have heard it's tied to the bow and turn pilot's head command. Is this true? 4) I swear I remember reading when Tank Crew was first announced that there were plans in the future to integrate both air and ground together in Multiplayer, so we could have players in planes and others in tanks. Am I crazy or is this in the plans? 5) Does this have multi-crew support? Can I play gunner while a friend is commander in the same tank? 6) Are there any other major differences I should be aware about between the base T34 included in the game and Tank Crew itself? It's a fair amount of questions, but I've had a tough time finding the answer to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Edited November 27, 2019 by TheWarsimmer

Should work in VR, too. 2 hours ago, TheWarsimmer said: 3) I have never been able to get the turret to traverse. I have heard it's tied to the bow and turn pilot's head command. Is this true? yes, but it only works with the mouse so far, and before you can move the turret and the gun, you first have to take over control with the key for 'Take/Leave gun control' (should be 'T' by default), when sitting in the gunner's position. 2 hours ago, TheWarsimmer said: 4) I swear I remember reading when Tank Crew was first announced that there were plans in the future to integrate both air and ground together in Multiplayer, so we could have players in planes and others in tanks. Am I crazy or is this in the plans? Honestly, I can't answer all your questions. I really don't know if you are crazy. This was possible from the beginning. But I don't know if the tanks are allready used very much in MP. 2 hours ago, TheWarsimmer said: 5) Does this have multi-crew support? Can I play gunner while a friend is commander in the same tank? Yes, the first position is the driver, so the one who starts playing with the tank has to join the driver seat, and then is able to change to all positions of his tank. If someone else joins his tank, too, he has to take one of the other three positions (commander, gunner, radio operator/gunner of the hull front machinegun) and the second and third player can't change position. Of course the first player can only change to positions, not occupied by another player. 2 hours ago, TheWarsimmer said: 6) Are there any other major differences I should be aware about between the base T34 included in the game and Tank Crew itself? The Tank Crew tanks are much better in all things, hard to compare. Additionally the tanks have more playable positions (commander (not for the T-34, where the cunner is the commander), radio operator) You might want to go to Youtube and watch some videos from Tank Crew, to get a better impression. 1
40plus Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 4) is already happening on some servers. Tis a lot of fun but, as a tanker, be prepared fro Kamekazi pilots. . . . . . twats. 1
TheWarsimmer Posted November 27, 2019 Author Posted November 27, 2019 Thanks for taking the time to answer. Went ahead an ordered, is a lot of fun. Running as a tank commander works out quite nicely, and the commands aren't bad at all if you use voice attack. I'll upload a profile when I get it fine tuned for anyone who wants it. Only thing is I can't get the gunners to fire at anything. I'll tell them to fire at will at ground targets, but they don't do anything. The driver responds well to commands.

If you are using the T-34, you have some kind of funny issue. The T-34 didn't have a gunner. The commander is the gunner. So if you are out of the hatch, you have to dive down on your gunner seat, toggle gunsight view, take control of the gun (should be 'T' by default), and shoot yourself.
TheWarsimmer Posted November 27, 2019 Author Posted November 27, 2019 Just now, Yogiflight said: If you are using the T-34, you have some kind of funny issue. The T-34 didn't have a gunner. Hmmm... unfortunately, I can't get it to work with any tank, even ones that have a separate gunner/commander. I issue the "fire at will at ground units" or whatever it's called, and it's read, but they never fire. Dug through the forums and saw a mention where it doesn't work. I'd like to figure it out because then I can get this voice attack profile uploaded for the commands. I've only tried quick missions. Maybe that is the problem.
Buggeredsteel823 Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 You have press Lshift then T to take control of the turret/gun.
