Feathered_IV Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 Pretty excited by the prospects that these two aircraft might bring for new Recon gameplay options. Sneaking into enemy airspace and trying not to draw the attention of the Sky Marshal or prowling enemy fighters. Making high or low passes over the target and hot-footing it home for schnapps and mission points. There’s a lot of potential there! 2
Avimimus Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 I agree! I don't think the Mosquito FB had recon variants.... but there were definitely recon Spit XIVs (including armed ones). Given the extreme importance of photo-reconnaissance for attempting to figure out where the landings were going to take place - and the role of photo-recon for planning the landings... it would actually make a lot of sense to have PRU and Luftwaffe photo-recon units in the dynamic campaign! Being alone, unarmed (or underarmed), and unafraid is actually a pretty interesting experience. 1
YoYo Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 And plus the same function for bigger Flying Circus planes as mission mode (like it was in RoF) .....

I chose not to invest in Flying Circus because the photo reconnaissance function was not implemented. It was my favourite 'thing' to do in Rise of Flight, and I was disappointed to see it make a non-appearance. Honestly, I feel like it's something that will never appear in BoX. ?
Lusekofte Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 FC utilize recon but planes that do have to recon one specific area. I do not know if it is a make do solution. You can choose camera too. But I do not know if it works. I would love some recon sorties

I loved having to level out correctly over (what I thought) was the target area and physically pushing a key to make the exposure. Simply flying around an area and having it happen automatically just doesn’t do it for me unfortunately. ?

Havin recce units in the game with approriate planes would really give additional value for single and multiplayer missions.

As I understand it you need to fly to your designated target at a specified altitude and do a lot of patterns until mission report you are done
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 Present implementation or lack of for cam and radio usage in FC is beyond expectations. Need to be taken care off before I could say that FC Volume -1 is finished product. Recon and mapping was the essence of ww1. Scouts - fighter aeroplanes existed to help or deny two-seaters main job.
