-332FG-Hank_DG Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 Hello everyone. I was just wondering how well does PWCG run on a dedicated server? Is it doable? The reason I ask is because we are looking to have a campaign with about 25-30 pilots, it seems the performance is quite bad. Would using a DServer fix this issue? And if so, is there a way to have the pat wilson on one PC and export it to the Dserver, and for the results to come back to the same PC?
Hoss Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 (edited) We (361st) have run a good sized Coop campaign mission with around 20+ pilots playing on both sides on our DServer.... We are still fine tuning it and trying to get more LW squads to come in and fly against us, we've got SCG and one other group flying Blue. Give Bugsy a shout on our discord and talk to him about it. Maybe we can get your group in the missions too. the server ran very smooth with all those pilots in it by the way. You would have to copy all of the mission files to the DServer machine and then copy the log files from the Dserver machine back to the host install. Other than that PWCG doesn't care. As log as it has a directory to write mission files to and it sees logs in the data directory PWCG is happy.
Murleen Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 If possible, it's probably easier to run PWCG on the same machine as the Dserver, as then you don't have to move files back and forth - the Dserver just looks like any other installation of BoX 1

Performance wise Yes in my experience, running the mission on DServer appears to free up resources on the players machine. This is not PWCG related but because the mission files tend to be so much bigger with PWCG, it is more noticeable.
