smink1701 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 First, I realize that the developers have their hands full trying to introduce a new game by early 2014. But (there???
Uufflakke Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 We already have a similar topic: http://forum.il2sturmovik.net/topic/150-what-are-your-immersion-ideas/
smink1701 Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Immersion may be part of the picture but there may be other things...user settings...that have nothing to do with immersion but still add to the player experience.
Heywooood Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 iL2 did so much so well that for me, simply remaking the aircraft, terrain and lighting to current specs and enhancing the AI, GUI and adding some options that iL2 didn't or coudn't have, based on the available hardware of its day, would be just fine and adandy enhance the campaigns, and online modes to handle more players and you have an instant winner that will sell for a decade - just like the original
Bearcat Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I have always felt that if CoD had done that.. we wouldn't be here.. but then again CoD also got cracked shortly after it was released too so.. (not that that contributed to it's demise that I am aware of.. and at this point it will definitely contribute to it's longevity..)
slm Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I have one simple general wish for BOS and all SW: please allow user to decide the path where the game is installed. All people do not have huge amounts of free space on C: drive.
danperin Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 A better compatibility with all kinds of controls would be great, like it is in Rise of Flight, with adjustable sensitivities and so on.
dburne Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) A better compatibility with all kinds of controls would be great, like it is in Rise of Flight, with adjustable sensitivities and so on. ROF did a great job in the controller setup menu, I love how they have a separate response file from the controller input file. You can even set individual responses per plane as well, or just make it global for all planes. I am sure they will anyway, I do hope they do this section in BOS similar to what we have in ROF. Now, if they would just add the ability in the controller input section, to assign a key or joystick button as a modifier, I would be thrilled. Edited April 1, 2013 by dburnette 1

4Shades Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 A better compatibility with all kinds of controls would be great, like it is in Rise of Flight, with adjustable sensitivities and so on. I can see why some pilots may want to adjust their stick profiles on a "per aircraft" basis, but I can also see why some pilots would regard this as a negative aspect. The aircraft handling characteristics are essential parts of the flight models, so the game designers may intentionally reduce aileron sensitivity on heavy bombers or boost sensitivity on light fighters etc. Players could then override these tweaks - a shame. Not sure what the answer is, since every joystick has its own profile anyway so the game devs cannot ensure identical experience for all players. Interesting question.
danperin Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) If they respect the limitations of each plane in the control scheme i think it could work, i like the idea you can tweak a "Response Curves Panel" to setup a harder or a smoother response for the joystick like it is in Rise of Flight "Responses" panel. dburne Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Not sure what the answer is, since every joystick has its own profile anyway so the game devs cannot ensure identical experience for all players. Interesting question. Indeed, most decent joysticks have the software one can use for individual tweaks to response curves, dead zones, assigning a modifier, etc. I use the Target software that came with my TM Warthog setup, for some of my flight sims, but not all. In ROF, I did that directly from the options in the sim - which I found very nice. ROF does not necessarily need the ability to assign a key or button as a modifier, at least not for the essentials, as the WWI planes had a fairly limited number of controls. I like having it programmed in the ROF software, saves me having the overhead of the Target software running, and don't have to mess with loading up a profile in it. And ROF has, imho, about the best looking and easy to use GUI for controller input and responses, that I have seen. A WWII sim, with the additional controls it will have ( and we know it won't have click pits either), definitely would benefit from being able to add a modifier in the control input section. If not, I will just create one in Target. I want every function that I would normally do, during a flight, assigned to my HOTAS setup.
PauloHirth Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Fly by sound, i believe all know that mod from tiger33... using impressive real sound recorded in low pass, BOS must have that!

Although RoF sounds great, It's still hard for me to believe this is real, but they might have something far better in store: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hlXqg52j7w
