VR Linux / Ubuntu compatability

How does this game run in linux on steam in VR? I have seen a post about the game running fine after a few tweaks in linux, but VR wasn't mention. Also what hardware are you running? I am thinking an i5 3570k 3.4ghz and would get a gtx1070. I have read in linux to get the HTC, but that was an old post and am wondering what you linux users use.

There are two reports about VR at protondb: one negative and one positive, both for Valve Index.

SteamVR is beta only but getting updates every few days, so it's worth monitoring progress time to time.
