Bilbo_Baggins Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Top of the morning to you gentleman, The Yak 7b specifications has both the same wingspan and wing area of the Yak 1, however when in game looking out of the cockpit, the wings look ever so slightly different. It's hard to describe but if you load up the game and look to the side you can see a subtle difference. I was wondering if anyone knows if the construction and design of these machine's wings are the same or if they differed? I was under the impression they were the exact same wing, but the in-game model suggests otherwise. Regards
312_Lazy Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 (edited) You are correct, Yak-7 has different wing shape. Actually Yak-1/3/7/9/9U all have different wing shapes. Edited November 22, 2019 by 312_Lazy
Avimimus Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 I wonder if that could be why I like flying the very late 'bubble' canopy Yak-7 more than the Yak-9s that were developed out of that variant...? 1

I think Karas Barabas was the lead (I might not have remembered how to spell the name correctly). There also weren't very many of them before Yak-9 production took over (so we probably won't see it officially). But the underlying point: A Yak-7 with a Yak-9 cockpit is still very fundamentally a Yak-7. 1
