DragonDaddy Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 I just purchased the Spitfire Mk.VB for a campaign and I like the way it handles. I just can't get it to brake during taxi and takeoff. I am using the same key bind that works on all other aircraft I fly. I didn't notice a special key for this aircraft in the key mapping settings. Is it possible there were no brakes on this early model?
Hot_Rod Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Yes, it does have brakes - use the (default) “/“ key, and use the rudder to give you differential braking (to turn left or right). This is the same system used on the other Commonwealth planes ( Spitfire Mk IX and the Tempest), as well as the Soviet planes. The German and U.S. planes use toe brakes on the rudder pedals, and by default are applied by pressing the “,” and “.” keys for left or right differential braking. Hope this helps. Rod
Goffik Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Weren't the brakes on early Spitfires intentionally weak to help prevent them nosing over when they were applied too abruptly? Perhaps they've modelled that in-game and you're just used to the stronger brakes on other aircraft?
DragonDaddy Posted November 21, 2019 Author Posted November 21, 2019 I just mapped the “/“ key to my joystick. It works!
