Eliminate "floating" when returning to cockpit from external view?

Coming to IL-2 from many hours playing in DCS, and there's a strange effect when switching back to internal cockpit.  In DCS, you can jump out to external view, then snap back to internal cockpit right where you left off.  In IL-2 (which I love BTW), there's a second or two of "floating" on returning to the cockpit, as if the camera was "settling back" into your skull.  It's disorienting and annoying.  I notice the same floating in place when IL-2 is paused.

Are there any config settings or other workarounds that can eliminate this effect?

I have this happen occasionally without even switching between views, as if the head tracking resets for some reason.

Happens to me...seems worse in certain Aircraft.  Running a Rift CV1.  This has done this since I started using VR.  Maybe something to do with using User created views when you save your head position with Ctrl-F10?

Not a game breaker, but annoying.

Only time I have seen any sort of floating was when I had the game paused. Running Rift S here.

Always have this when switching from external back to cockpit or from gunner to cockpit. It's irritating as it takes a couple of seconds to settle. -Rift S.

For me it comes out of the blue, once in about half an hour. It immediately places me in what appears to be default cockpit view position and then slowly moves me back . Could be Pimax thing though. I get floating while paused too.

I wonder if maybe a Steam VR thing? I am running my Rift S through Open Composite.

Nope, I'm running Open Composite, as well.

I have this through Rift S also. I think it's the game -- the devs have decided that a hard restriction on where your VR 'head' can be is needed to avoid cheating, so there's a hard stop on the windows. I think the stop is actually too soon in many cases and it actually reduces immersion -- any kind of disconnect with real world head movement is to be avoided in a VR game. The 'float' back to center is a consequence of this I think, or of some kind of maximum rate of movement on where your VR 'head' is.

In HP Reverb the same. I can live with this but I agree, a its a little strange.

That may be it, as I fly SP only and have the head restriction disabled.

I also see this, CV1 and it happens using opencomposite and steamvr, single player with head restriction disabled.

I'm the OP, HTC Vive Pro running SteamVR here.  Glad to hear it happens to others, but sounds like nobody knows how to avoid it?

I noticed that with all the VR headsets I tried (Rift, Pimax5K+, Index, Reverb, VivePRo). I think it is something inherent to IL-2. But it is only a couple of sencods. Not a major issue for me.

Oh I agree it isn't a big deal.  But when cycling outside view then back into the cockpit frequently, it gets annoying.  Was hoping there was a config setting or mod that could address the issue.  Perhaps the devs monitor some of these threads and can add it to the future roadmap.

Yes its in IL-2 according me also, so no quick view from VR if we back to the cockpit.

I hope it will be solved.

Thanks YoYo.  Glad to see it confirmed by others.  It's one of the most striking differences between DCS and IL-2 when flying, as I like to switch back and forth from internal to external views pretty regularly.

What is strange in other planes (from IL-2 BoX and WW2) I didnt notice this effect.

Looks like code in FC. Someone did a post in bug corner?
