Panzerlang Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I found this on one of my old sites, may be of interest to some:
CreepiJim Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 This table does not make sense to me. Which unit is the energy measured in (it is not Joule) and what are the principles of the lethality calculation? Sorry for being the spanish inquisition. :D
Panzerlang Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 Dunno, I made it years ago based on info from somewhere.
Kurfurst Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 How is the explosive energy of the 20mm rounds calculated? The MG FF and the MG 151 rounds had the same explosive content, around 18 gram of Hexogene, so they should be the same potential; the 20mm M2 (Hispano) round had the least explosive content, ie. the standard HEI round IIRC had something like of a 10 gram filler, of which about 6-7 gram was explosive. Yet it is supposed to be possess more destructive power than either the MG FF or MG 151 rounds, unless the latter are of the SAPHEI types and not the common M-Geschoss. Then again the MK 103 and 108 HE-MG rounds had the same filling IIRC, yet somehow the MK 103 round is supposed to be more effective. The whole table makes very little sense.
