How to:Photos in Cockpit?

I've never converted jpgs to dds files . In specs it says they should be 1024x1024in DXT5 ARGB 8bpp with mip-maps. I have no idea what this means.Can somebody help me out /i need to know how to do this or have a kind soul give me a hand on the photos I include...obviously more where these came from....
