jc_sim Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 (edited) I'm coming back to the series after many years and want to clarify the way the Great Battles games work with VR. I'd like to buy Battle of Bodenplatte by itself and play it on VR with my Oculus Rift. However, I don't have Battle of Stalingrad and don't want it. In any case, can I buy Bodenplatte directly from the IL-2 store and play it through Steam VR, which seems to be necessary for VR, without having Battle of Stalingrad? Thanks. dburne Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Yes you can. Also for Rift users there is an alternative to Steam VR, called Open Composite. It is a leaner program without all the bells and whistles of Steam VR, most Rift users get better performance with it. https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/9nxixe/systemwide_installation_for_opencomposite_released/ Either is fine though, you may want to start out with Steam VR and see how it does. 2
jc_sim Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 Thanks for the confirmation. Got it up and running tonight with no issues. It looks good and the immersion is fantastic. I don’t use my HMD much, but this game is a good reason to bring it out more often.
Hoots Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 +1 for open composite, makes a big difference. 1 1
