Trying to use the A and D keys for camera offset... Not working.

I am trying to get my head around the cameras but some just don't seem to make sense or I just can't get them to work. 

So the the W and S keys work to zoom in and out but if I try to use the A and D keys to move the camera sideways nothing happens, similar for the F and R keys to move the camera up and down. 

 

So a shot I want to use is the F8 padlock, but zoomed in on the player aircraft. So the player aircraft fills the screen but generally you can only see the enemy aircraft and the cockpit of the player aircraft. I would like to move the camera down so that more of the player aircraft can be seen or sometimes move it left and right to get a better composition but I just can't get this to work. 

 

So is there a key to do what the default keys do or am I missing something in regards of how to offset the camera?
