Clouds Visuals Question

Hi All,

 

Returned to il2 after a bit of a break and notice so many different versions. I have il2 1946 dvd and Sturmovik and use vpmod and bat. I noticed a video regarding a plane dropping through the clouds with fantastic water droplets against the cockpit. Can anyone tell me what version of il2 is required or is there a patch for this? I have a feeling that i need to get another addon or seperate il2.

 

Any info would be great as i really enjoy the WW2 sims.

Yes you need new game called il2:Great Battles, it's 14 years newer game

At the bottom of the page there are rest of the expansions and collector planes, note that every "Battle of X" can run as standalone game same as dlc/expansion, pick what you like and enjoy!

This is as above stated a totally different game within the same distributor. 
You will find the graphics being like you wish for in old IL 2. More and better features but within the same complexity. A much better simulated environment where you can feel the flight. 
but for Single player , choices within this feature is less. In many ways AI is more demanding and worser than the old game, but some things are better. 
I highly reccomend you to buy it, but in the same time reinstall IL 2 46 and mod it from this Site

Many thanks for the heads up guys. Showing my age a bit as didn't realise its 14 years. So it doesn't matter which I choose, as they are all standalones? Will have to investigate. Hope to get back into it asap. One more question, do I need battle of bodenplatte to start?

None are stand alone, they are separate modules of an integrated game.  You'll just be restricted in game to the maps and planes of the particular module you decide on.  If you do some online with others, whatever maps they are using will be open to you, but only the planes you currently own are accessible.

 

You'll probably drool over the outstanding damage modeling and flight dynamics, they really are several steps above 46, nothing repetitive and far deeper.  These aircraft have a far more individualized character, can be a bit tougher to master some over others for many.

We also now have this fantastic new immersion called VR.

If you really want the ultimate in flight then pick up one of these great little additions and prepare to have the treat of your (flying) life...
