Mysticpuma Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 (edited) As much as I have been involved with Cliffs of Dover over the years, the development progress in BoX has been very impressive and I decided to make a fresh install. I have a great system and it runs most everything at 4k so the power and graphics capability isn't in question. So I loaded up the game, set the clouds to overcast, launched into the skies only to be confronted by the worst cloud textures I have ever seen! I have messed around with Nvidia panel, graphics quality but have not been able to work out just what is causing this issue. Does anyone have any ideas as currently this is sadly unplayable, cheers, Mysticpuma I have darkened a couple of the images to show/enhance the effect. Edited November 15, 2019 by Mysticpuma
Brano Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 I have yet to try the latest update. I'm behind schedule as usually ? But I've never experienced such graphic anomaly with clouds ? 2
LizLemon Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 The overcast clouds are a bunch of stacked planes, like how old il2 faked 3d trees from altitude.

Noted, thanks for theinfo LizLemon, but why are they so pronounced on mine and yet I barely see anyone mentioning them anywhere else? Cheers, Mysticpuma 1
Uufflakke Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 As you can see below I have it also. Only once in a while I suppose as I don't notice it all the time. I also had to darken the image to enhance the effect in a screenshot. The issue is less visible than you showed in the first post.
spamRoast Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 (edited) This problem, if it can be considered one, has been documented quite a bit and it's been talked about for awhile now. The weird thing is that some people experience it and others say they've never seen it before. I wish I knew why because even people with expensive rigs experience it. I sometimes wonder if the people who say they've never seen it just haven't been in the right conditions to see it because it's not always noticeable. Different lighting makes it more or less prevalent. I personally think it's just how the clouds have been made but that's just my own assumption so don't quote me on that. If it's true that some people experience it and others don't then I wish there was a known fix because it really does break the immersion sometimes, but it's not a show stopper for me if that's just how the clouds work. Flight sims deal with very large scale and I assume trade-offs have to be made because of that. That said, this sim has gradually improved a lot since I've started playing, and probably a lot more since its beginnings. For example, the old "haze bubble" at high altitudes is now non-existent and planes can now be seen at greater distances than 10km, among hundreds of other improvements. I don't want to speak for the devs, but I assume they'll make things like this as realistic as physically possible.Related posts: Edited November 24, 2019 by blah
Mysticpuma Posted November 27, 2019 Author Posted November 27, 2019 (edited) v4.002. The issue slightly diminished but still there. Very much dependent on time of day Edited November 27, 2019 by Mysticpuma 1
Jason_Williams Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 The new clouds makes any discussions of the old clouds moot. Jason
