Hello!

Poll for Multiplayer players who usually fly on full realism settings servers
Of course, many players like historical and fantasy missions, please choose the one you love the most

"Fantasy missions" are based without a historical set or historical purpose
"Historic missions" are those with a set of planes and vehicles according to year and theater, but it doesn't have to be 100% historic, it can be "90%" with maps and vehicles that can be adapted

I prefer historical fantasy. Realistic and plausible, but not necessarily 100% accurate. For example, I'd rather not have 100+ km bomber flights. I'd like them to be shorter then what they were in reality. Yet, I like having realistic scenarios and goals.

I wouldn't mind a full blown, B-17 mission into Germany that starts in the middle of France instead of Briton for example.

In your case you prefer history

Fantasy Missions has no historical basis

Historicaly plausibile.

Don’t get hung up on what squadrons flew from What base etc, just make it believable.

Certain people get too hung up on these things to the detriment of player experience.

My A-20 campaign deals with an A-20 squadron flying out of Adler that didn’t really exist. However you get to ingress and egress over the Cacause mountains instead of endless farm tiles.

Always prioritize the player experience and you won’t go wrong - nobody will argue with you. Just keep it plausible.

Either choice is acceptable provided the mission is lively.  I also prefer missions that are challenging but not impossible to perform.

Every mission is by definition fantasy, unless you have zero freedom of movement, but then we should call it ‘reenactment’.

The question is how plausible you want a mission to be. Could it have happened like this?

For some this is about super accurate skins/units/locations etc. For me it’s more about what sort of situation I encounter in the air and if the other pilots (AI or human player) behave in a plausible way.

I do not care as long if they are within the historical aspects, (so no 109k at Stalingrad), immersive (like decent intro, story, AI activities on ground/air), element of surprise (home airstrip is attacked, when starting your mission), not being based on one activity (an combination of defensive/offensive, ground attacking, special tasks, scouting etc). BTW This is also counting for bombers think at spy/supply dropping, evacuating,  precision bombing, night/day.

So I did vote Fantasy, as in real life an 12h escorting B17 mission or patrolling everyday the same region while no German planes ever did enter, looks to me not that interesting.
