underscore Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Hi all my last hope before I have to put this game to sleep any fixes for a stutter when running on Rift-S no stutter in any other VR games incl DCS graphics settings do not seem to impact forcing ASW on or off or auto makes no odds any thoughts appreciated else i’ll have to check-out of IL2
dburne Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Make sure in graphics setting neither vsync nor fps target is set.
ironk79 Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 (edited) Did it run well at any time? Tried a clean reinstall? Do you run MSI Afterburner or something similar? I only have Rift CV1, since it has different tracking method i don't know if it is the same issue. Most of the time when i have stutter problems was, when station calibration was somehow off. After resetting VR, stutter was mostly gone. Maybe the issue isn't apparent with other VR titles, because error correction can compensate it. But since il2 is more demanding, the issue becomes apparent? Edited November 14, 2019 by ironk79
ironk79 Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 could be worth a try, try different USB3.0 port
TheWarsimmer Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 It may be circumstantial, but I was getting constant stutter in my rift s. Even if frames were good. I unchecked 4k textures and haven't had any stutter since.
underscore Posted November 16, 2019 Author Posted November 16, 2019 Hi All Thanks for the feedback Tried a different USB 3 port Tried re installation even to a different SSD drive Tied various graphics settings it did run smoothly some time back interesting I can see non of my CPU's are at 100% and the GPU s only at about 50% so something must be a bottle neck - I'm guessing steam VR?? any way - I'll check back to see if any other solutions come up - until then no more purchases of content from me and the game will go to sleep :(
dburne Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 Consider giving Open Composite a try. A program that allows one with a Rift device to run through it rather than Steam VR. I use it and get better performance in IL-2 with it. https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/9nxixe/systemwide_installation_for_opencomposite_released/
underscore Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 Same issue with open VR not sure why CPU and GPU usage would run low??

Hard to say what exactly it might be, however it is odd you would be smooth in DCS and stuttering in IL-2. And really odd you did not see an improvement with Open Composite with IL-2. Typically DCS is more demanding on VR than IL-2 is. At least I find it is. I am smooth in both however with my Rift S, but I do also have a pretty beefy rig. What are your system specs? How do you have your in game graphics settings set? If running an Nvidia card, do you have IL-2.exe set in Nvidia Control Panel to " Prefer Maximum Performance" in power management? I leave all the other settings at their default of "application controlled". Edited November 17, 2019 by dburne
underscore Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 (edited) In game settings all around medium but even on low or high I get the same thing Nvidia set to prefer max performance must be something interfering with the thread in IL2...... will try something like ‘win10 game mode’ to see if that helps my sys specs --------- System: i7-8700k @ 3.7 to 4.7GHz; Nvidia GTX 1080ti; 16GB DDR4 2666Mz Ram; ASUS ROG Strix z370-E; SSD Drive; Oculus Rift S; Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Edited November 18, 2019 by underscore
SR-F_Winger Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Valve Index here. And still stuttering even on berloga. However i didnt doublecheck if FPS target or VSYNC are off. Will do that in the evening.

Nope, but i have to admit i dint try much. Dont get to play too much and if i get time i rather play something in VR that deoesnt stutter. EDIT: I am sure they will fix it soon. They always eliminate bugs like that sooner or later. Edited November 28, 2019 by Winger
underscore Posted November 28, 2019 Author Posted November 28, 2019 Stutter still there in latest build may have to switch to DCS for my WWII
