Cyberkirby Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 I'm more than likely spoiled by the likes of Wings over Flanders Fields and (to an extent) War Thunder in terms of aircraft selection, but the select few planes available in FC is still a bit jarring to me. It's something like going back to the original Super Smash Bros. and seeing it has only 12 characters after spending ages with Ultimate's 80+ character roster. While we wait to see how well Volume 1 does, it might be a good time to suggest planes that we'd like to see make it into the second volume?
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 I would like to see early planes 1915- 16 but I think there is not enough of them in ROF to port for standalone Vol , so my guess is 1917 for FC VOL 2 .
J2_Trupobaw Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 For the record, both WoFF and WT (and 1946, and CloD) have in fact one aircraft each . It comes with different dressings like 3d models, cockpits, armaments, damage and deriative flight characteristics (horisontal speed, climb speed), but under the wig and fake nose it's all the same basic airframe. That's why it's so easy to make "new" planes by dozen in these games - apply new coat of paint and ship away. FC has 5 times more unique airframes than WT and WoFF taken together and will never get anywhere near 80.
US63_SpadLivesMatter Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 OP, might I suggest you try Rise of Flight?

Agreed, leave the 1915-16 crap for collector planes.

PatrickAWlson Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 I am a SP campaign guy so I want to see steady progression backwards without big gaps in campaign dates. FC takes us from Sept 1917 (that is stretching it) to the end of the war. I want to see something like Jan 1917 - Sept 1917 next Pup Tripe N17 SPAD VII (early and late) RE8 Alb D2 (late) Alb D3 DFW whatever else Once that is done, then go to 1916 E III Halberstadt DII Alb CIII DH2 N11 FE2b whatever else 4
Trooper117 Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 I'm with Pat... definitely want early 1917 onwards.
No.23_Triggers Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 WoFF's flyable plane's list is outstanding. I only hope that we have a similar list in Flying Circus one day! But - it's still early days yet, and WW1 aviation is still quite the niche. Hopefully we'll get some new planes in the not-too-distant future

I agree that the next 5+5 addition should be 1917, either British or French themed. I'd rather see French, since FC1 is English-centrish. For the 5 German 1917 planes, there is really little choice: Halberstadt D.II Albatros D.II (early/late) Albatros D.III OAW DFW D.V Either Albatros D.V(no parachute), or Roland C.II For the 5 Entente planes, there is to many to choose from: French FC2: Nieuport 11 Nieuport 17 (Lewis/Vickers) Spad 7 (150/180) Sopwith Strutter either Sopwith Triplane / Hanriot HD.1 British FC2: Nieuport 17 (Lewis/Vickers) Sopwith Pup Sopwith Triplane Spad 7 (150/180) R.E.8
US103_Baer Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 You'd still be without a proper entente 2-seater that can bomb, recon and get a decent altitude. DH4 (or Breguet) is a must. 1
J2_Trupobaw Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) Not in spring /summer 1917 1917 scenario. Breguet and DH4 are collector planes for 1918. R.E.8 is the recon/bomber for 1917 and roughlt equivalent of DFW, and Strutter is what French actually used until they deployed Breguet. What we miss at the moment is Entente two-seaters that don't outrun hopelessly all German planes except D.VIIF. R.E.8 is actually faster in horisontal flight than D.Va and D.IIIa we have (as it was in RoF before 2014 patch). Edited November 13, 2019 by J2_Trupobaw 1
US63_SpadLivesMatter Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 For gameplay purposes, let's use a two-seater that the central aircraft will be fast enough to chase down. 1
Feathered_IV Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 An AI BE2e with a simple FM would be ideal. Classic prey for the Jastas. 1

No.23_Triggers Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 I'd actually love to see the B.E.2 in Flying Circus - alongside some earlier aircraft, of course! It may be a deathtrap, but you can't talk WW1 aviation and leave the B.E out... What would be even better is if it had a 'B.E.12 Mod' for the more insane among us! 1
