352ndOscar Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 I’ve heard/read different responses, so, I’ll ask again. Can I buy JUST IL-2 Bodenplatte and play Single/Coop/Multiplayer, with myself and others, WITHOUT having to do the “Steam Thing” AND/OR purchase BoS? Thanks in advance....
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Absolutely. You can buy Bodenplatte from the Il-2 store and play all game modes without needing to purchase any other modules or install Steam.
Eisenfaustus Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 (edited) yes - bodenplatte can be bought as standalone on the website if you want it on steam you'd need BoS on steam - but without steam it's standalone Mitthrawnuruodo beat me to it Edited November 11, 2019 by Eisenfaustus
Rjel Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 I'd highly recommend buying it here and avoiding Steam. Mainly because it's more money for the developers to further the sim, but also that the releases happen come out here first. Sometimes days and even weeks before Steam.
352ndOscar Posted November 11, 2019 Author Posted November 11, 2019 (edited) Thank You both..... ....All... LOL Edited November 11, 2019 by 352ndOscar 1
FeuerFliegen Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 I agree that you should always try to make your purchases directly from IL2Sturmovik.com , as the developers don't have to give any of the profits to another middle man and we will eventually have more resources to put towards future projects. Personally I have never made an IL-2 BoX purchase anywhere other than il2sturmovik.com
Panzerlang Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 A friend of mine bought BoS on steam a few days ago and has had nothing but grief trying to get it to run. First it was a couple of missing .dll files (fixed by installing Visual Studio), then he couldn't get past the "new account" choices on login (kept coming up with "disconnected from master server"). If I'd known before he bought it I would have advised him to order it direct.

MasserME262 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 sadly Im one of the "BoS through Steam, >BoS through here" guys, I wish I knew before that I should get everything on here
Mac_Messer Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 I started from BoS activated through Steam. Not one problem, higher dl speeds for updates, and still I can buy any and all IL2 content through IL2 store. 1
cardboard_killer Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 There are economic advantages to having the game on Steam. I bought BoS on Steam before knowing it was available direct, mostly because I bought IL2-1946 there. I've since bought everything else here, except the recent 66% off sale where I bought two planes I'm actually not interested in flying, but thought at that price I'd go ahead and buy. But it is important that BoX remain on Steam.
Froddi_VR Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 I run it on Steam! No troubles or anything, cant say i remember any trouble with Steam in my 12 years of using it. 1
Panzerlang Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Just whatsapped him, he's already done exactly that (refunded the steam purchase and gone direct to IL2.com). 1
