Getting Convoys And Trains To Move At Mission Start

OK, another dumb question.....

I have read both mission building manuals and combed the threads here in Mission building but cannot find if there is a way to just get a convoy or train to start right after the mission does.

Mission Type:  Dogfight-Ground Attack Practice-Various Plane Types

In the IL-2 Mission Editor and Multiplayer Manual it says to get these things to move I need to

"Trigger the first waypoint on the route with a target link from another MCU or a message link from an object."  (page 68)
What/Which MCU?  Message link from an object?  Either I truly am thick as a brick or maybe I just don't know where to look to find the information I need.

In Prangster's BoS Mission Building Guide it says I need to place a

Translator:Complex Trigger and "Set the Object script list to all 109s and the Countries to Germany. In Event Filter tick Object Entered." which will make the convoy/train begin moving when a German 109 enters the radius.  (page 40)  There are no plans for air to air combat in this mission nor do I wish to "trigger" the start with the Player plane.  The idea is if I go for target 'A' first then the train but the second time go for target 'B' first the train will be in a different place.  Does that make sense?

Is there a way to just get them to start moving a few seconds after the mission starts.  Is there an MCU (there are so many different types) I can use as a 'Start at Mission star and set a Trigger Timer to set a delay at the mission start so I'm not asking too much of the mission initially.

(why didn't i take rocket science 101 in college?)

Please be patient with me as I am 'unlearning' everything I learned about building missions in IL-2 '46.

You can use a timer to activate the first waypoint. Most of the time, it's that one which is used.

Mission Begin -- Add target ---> Timer (you set the valor in sec/min, it will define when you want that the waypoint is activated which mean when your vehicle will move after the begining of the mission) --- Add Target --> Waypoint 1

OK. So the MCU's to use and the  Path is;
Translator:Mission Begin
> targeted to >
Trigger:Timer (delay set to when the covoy/train begins to move)
> targeted to >
First (Convoy/Train) Waypoint.

Now that is a simple, easy to understand explanation of how to get things moving.  T H A N K  Y O U!
So why can't that explanation be in the manuals followed by a "here's how to trigger this event using 'xxx' "?
This is what I'm finding missing in the manuals a lot of the videos, the basics.

Habu, you are a lifesaver.  And thank you for not being belittling or dismissive of a total noob beginner.

And in case you setup those trains /trucks / whatever by a spawning trigger...
Give them at leat 4 seconds to spawn before you order them to do anything (move to WP, ..)

Salutations,

The current manuals are lacking in such clarity sometimes but they are all we have right now. ?

There is a mythic tale about an updated mission editor that is forthcoming. The primary messenger (prophet) perpetuating this dubious story is one named JimTM?

Beebop, I highly recommend that you read through "Chapter 1: Getting Started" and "Chapter 2: Learning Basic Mission Editor Skills" in the IL-2 Sturmovik Mission Editor and Multiplayer Server Manual. These chapters will help you understand the basics of the editor such as what a message link is (pg. 9) and how to set up links (pg. 19).

Cheers!

After the begining of the mission, because before it's a mission begining. If you have a trigger which check if a plane enter in an area, it will delay the move after a plane/vehicle enter in a specific area.

Have a look on the guide of Jim. It will be very helpfull, and Jim enhance it with time and questions ask on the forum.
