taffy2jeffmorgan Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Hi, Just started to fly a couple of RAF missions in BOBP , and as always when a squadron is selected the default aircraft is just a plain layout with only the RAF roundels, there is no reference to 443 Sqn RCAF which I have chosen to fly only the usual selection of skins which are not relevant to that Sqn, is there a chance in some future update that when in careers the Sqn will come with its units emblem and markings, at least that way the aircraft flying next to you are recognizable. Cheers 4
MarcoPegase44 Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Hello,It is possible to customize the skins of his teammates in the MOdCareer but it's work, it works.See my post
AstroCat Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Yeah I really wish you could at least set the skins somehow in game. Would help with the immersion and fun for playing career mode.
56RAF_Roblex Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 I end up making 8 quasi-historic skins for every new aircraft that my squadron take a shine to. We each have a code letter (or number for Russian aircraft) and personal symbols below the cockpit. It can be a bit time consuming but it is a big help when we are taxiing out and are not sure if the aircraft passing us is our wing leader and needs following.
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Hopefully we'll see a markings system get added to the engine at some point so that they can then generate on a default skin the appropriate squadron letters or numbers as needed. As is typical in 1CGS style, I assume when they do get around to doing it, they will do it at a very impressive level. 1

5th_Hellrider Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Hi all, the lack of a markings system in BoS has always been a big lacuna, at least in my opinion. Markings are very important to me, maybe it's stupid for others. But I absolutely don't like fly (I play only MP) seeing other planes with generic skins and no number markings. I know you could use custom skins, but on online servers hardly people have the proper markings/skins (as long as the server allows custom skins). Is planned for the future a good Markings System, independent from the skin (such as in Cliffs of Dover)? I know that for most players this is a secondary aspect, but for me it is very important. ? 1
GSHWK_Houndstone_Hawk Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 (edited) .... OVER TWO YEARS ON!!! Me too. In all the years I've played IL-2 GBS I have not once been immersed in any way, shape or form with most of the content be it Quick Mission, Career, MP. Why? Because of something so very simple, to which very few seem to care about ... squadron markings. I don't get it why it isn't such a deal breaker to many? You wouldn't play FIFA without the right kit colours and names & numbers on the back would you? or F1 without a ferrari being red. So why on earth would you play such a supposedly HISTORICAL-based title like this .... flying in a formation of planes that have absolutely no squadron codes what so ever. They were there for a very important reason. It's a great shame but one that keeps me having to either play campaigns (from like-minded creators who supply proper skins for their campaign) or my own created missions. It's incredible how this hasn't been implemented yet. You haven't got a clue which squadron those friendlies are from or which one is your wingman or more importantly, wing lead, ... but at least they'll look pretty under that physics-enhanced new sky dome ?
