Howdy Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Hey All!Just picked up the BOS alpha and I'm amazed by the work the devs have done and how stunningly beautiful this sim is with all the attention to detail. It FEELS like what it must feel like to be flying....So I'm somewhat new to complex engine management and while I have some of the basic concepts down (fuel mixture full when on the ground and leaner @ higher altitude) I'm having issues understanding settings one should use for a cold start with the 109. For example, I forgot to raise fuel mixture and while it was at 0% I was still able to take off. Is this a bug in alpha or am I missing something? Also I just don't understand the water radiator, oil radiator or cowl shutters....anyone have advice / a link to a video that might help with proper use?I could ask more questions but what really might be most helpful to me is if someone can describe their startup procedure with the 109 from a cold start along with why you're doing what you're doing. Thanks for any help / advice!
1CGS LukeFF Posted April 10, 2014 1CGS Posted April 10, 2014 The 109 does not have adjustable fuel mixture, and its water & oil radiators are fully auto right now.
Howdy Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 Thanks! Also....just found the CEM thread with the PDF now
kendo Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) Nothing specifically on cold starts but check out Requiem's video guides to BOS at: http://www.youtube.com/user/RequiemBoS/videos One on CEM and one for the 109 too. Edited April 10, 2014 by kendo 1
=GW=AlexanderCUI Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I can't check the video because of network forbidden, but I do have a serious problem. When I fly with my 109 F4 in expert mode, the engine will dead in 1-2 mins, any one has the same problem? Just want to find out the solution and start to fly in expert mode.

Check this out: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/6670-cockpit-glance-reference-cards/?hl=+cockpit%20+reference Sadly I don't have much time to explain you with details all of this. I hope someone else will clarify for you. Or you can search in the forums about how the different airplanes behave

If you are flying with full throttle -> 1,42 ata, this will happen. Don't go over 1,3 unless it's emergency and then throttle back before one minute is up.
