unreasonable Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 (edited) Good article in the November issue - pilot from the NZ outfit The Vintage Aviator comparing the flying experience in Pup vs Albatros DII, SE5a vs Albatros DVa and Snipe vs Fokker DVIII. Not much in terms of specific numbers, but a few conclusions: 1) Rotary engine management is key with constant adjustment required. 2) Of several rotary powered planes flown, including Gnome Camel, the Snipe was the only one where the writer particularly noticed the rotary precession. 3) With the same engine in each, the DVa is slower than the DII, and both are sluggish/ponderous 4) Best all round of these is the SE5a Well worth finding an issue in your local newsagent. Well worth finding (by browsing through the wegpage of the magazine) that in Duxford, they offer fights in the Mustang as well as flights in the Sea Fury. ?
