Anyone here into socialVR ?

 

I imagine, possibly wrongly, that many people who have come to FC have come because of the added immersiveness of VR and that, given VR's limitations at the moment,  WW1 is possibly a better fit. Perhaps because of this, the FC player base has a far more representative number of active players regularly using VR when playing ?

 

Maybe as a niche, within what might be argued, is already a niche we should be quicker to experiment and try NEW ways of fostering community spirit.  As a rule I'm not a big one for social media, other than a couple of forums, such as this, but I wonder if it might be worth a try to embrace some of the possibilities of this new tech, leading the way, much as the pioneers of the Great War did back in the day ?

 

Sunday evenings, with the Jasta 5 server proving popular, might provide an opportunity, when lot's of people are about,  for a pre-flight or post match, drop in lobby.  it appears there are lot's of opportunities for sharing, and discussing, videos, tech information, flight and fight analysis, in SocialVR  etc etc.

 

If there is a particular SocialVR app that someone, with experience, might recommend, or indeed you have any suggestions, then I would be interested to hear.  We might even be able to kick it all off with a "planned" movie event, such as Ace's High, The Blue Max, or some such, where people could just drop in and get comfortable with the enviroment and interface without feeling obliged to have to chat or be witty.  While beyond me, I think it would be pretty cool to have a WW1 Aviators Mess lobby designed by a keen individual, to meet up in. 

 

While I have by no means given various SocialVR apps more than a passing look, so far AltspaceVR seems to offer some possibilities as to a suitable place to maybe try out some events ?
