taffy2jeffmorgan Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Hi all . As in the last post concerning the merits of Trak IR which I hope to be the owner of soon, I have been told profiles for this are available which have been crested and posted on this forum, but my question is- Does the device come with a selection of default profiles for a selection of flight simulations it supports, and its a case of altering and improving upon these defaults to suit the players tastes. Cheers. JM.
oneeyeddog Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Hi Taffy, The TIR does come with a bunch of sim/game specific profiles, although none for BoS as yet. Regardless, I recommend using Requiems TIR profiles. One small bit of advice I can offer is to make sure you install the TIR software before you connect the TIR. From what I understand connecting the TIR and then installing the software can cause big problems.

oneeyeddog Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) skouras, this is from the users manual. I recall reading posts from people who were having issues, like their TIR not working properly because of this. 3.4 Software and Hardware InstallationNote : For best results, we recommend installing the TrackIR Software before you connect the TrackIR and here 8.1 Problem : Software loads and runs, but LED indicator light on unit does not come on; OR you receive a message saying, “The system cannot find the file specified or the software could not connect with the TrackIR device Possible Causes 1. Improper software/ hardware installation. 2. Improper unit alignment. (for solution, see placement instructions in section 3.5) Solutions If you connected the TrackIR unit before installing the software, do this: 1a. Shut down the software and wait 30 seconds. Unplug the TrackIR unit from your USB port. Then plug the TrackIR back into your USB port, wait another 30 seconds and restart the software. 1b. Right click on My Computer. Go to Properties. Go to the Device Manager. Double click on NaturalPoint Devices. If you see a device listed as TrackIR 3, 4, or 5 then this is not the problem. 1c. If you see a device listed as unknown or has a yellow and black “?” next to it, remove/uninstall that device. Disconnect the TrackIR unit and reboot. After system restarts, unplug all extraneous USB devices except the keyboard and mouse. Uninstall the NaturalPoint software. Reboot two times. When the system restarts the second time, install the software again. Reboot. After the system comes up, reconnect the TrackIR unit. The camera should now be recognized and the Found New Hardware Wizard should start. Install the software drivers accordingly Additional Solutions - System Restore If step (1c.) did not work, then you can try restoring your system to an earlier time period. If there are no unknown USB devices in the device manager, unplug the camera and then uninstall the software; otherwise, remove the unknown USB device first, then unplug the camera and uninstall the software. Perform a system restore to a time before you had your problems. This will clear your registry and reset your system to that day. Any installations of software or hardware since this date will need to be reinstalled again. Once the restore is done and system reboots, unplug all extraneous USB devices. Leave Mouse and Keyboard plugged in. Reboot a second time. Now begin the installation of the TrackIR from scratch. Install the software first. Use the latest version from the download section of our website. Plug in the TrackIR unit. The found new hardware wizard should start. Follow the installation instructions at the beginning of the manual. Edited April 9, 2014 by oneeyeddog
Fodder Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 One more thing.....If BoS crashes for any reason it seems to kill my TIR s/w. Its so annoying to restart BoS and then to have to do it all over again (after restarting TIR)
siipperi Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) Only thing you should believe about TIR is 2 things. If too close to you it can be a little problematic with angles and secondly once you got it, you just can't go back + what I always say. dont use other people's profiles if you don't make sure their tir is same distance away from you. II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I just built a home cockpit and moved about 15" further away from my screen. (Next is a bigger screen I did have to adjust my personal profile a bit. TIR 5 can be installed either way but software first is the standard.
ST_Pirato Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Can't you just start the profile manualy in the TrackIR software, thats how I do it. I think BoS is not in the "Titles" list yet to link a Profile to run on Game start.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) Create and save your own profile(s) within TrackIR. I use the same profile for every flight sim and just keep it as the default. I didn't modify mine until I changed physical position within my home office. Edited April 13, 2014 by A1FltTrn=HerrMurf
Bassly Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) OK, I've found the solution for me. I reverted back to the 5.1 version of the software. Now it works as previously. Link your profile with Rise of Flight in titles. For some reason TIR detects BoS as Rise of Flight. Edited April 13, 2014 by Bassly
