Elem Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I have had the same question posted on the RoF forum for a few days. In both sims, I am not able to assign keys/buttons in the Control options. I select the control I wish to assign and the window opens with the word "null" (that is in RoF, in BoS it is "null/null") as the selected option and it will not accept anything I select. I was asked to supply a screen shot in the RoF forum which I tried, but in both sims again, when I try a screen shot, it takes a shot of my desktop rather that what I have open at the time. This is all mightly odd to me as I used to have no problem doing both. I have done a full recovery in RoF and a full reinstall of BoS, but still have this problem. What is going on guys?
Rivet Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) when I try a screen shot, it takes a shot of my desktop rather that what I have open at the time. Yes, to take in game screenshots you will need to use a separate utility such as Fraps, MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision (same thing, different coat) or FSscreen which is a totally free utility. You can get it here: FSSCREEN: http://www.flightsimworld.com/downloads/viewfile/1058.html MSI AFTERBURNER: http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm There is a multitude of screenshot apps out there. I've just mentioned a few popular utilities that will do the job. Edited April 9, 2014 by Rivet
Elem Posted April 9, 2014 Author Posted April 9, 2014 The Print Screen key takes screenshots in-game. @ OP have you ticked the Fullscreen box in Video options or are you running Windowed? I have tried it Full screen and windowed. No diff. The Print Screen key has always worked for me before in the past. I can't say how long I have had this problem as haven't wanted to re-assign keys for some time. I will check out the input files folder as you suggest. Ta.
Rivet Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 The Print Screen key takes screenshots in-game. Whoops. It does indeed. I forgot about that as I never use it. It saves the screens to your main IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad folder. They're saved in BMP format.
Elem Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 Ok, so I've sorted my screenshot issue and here it is, showing "null" and this is unchangeable from keyboard or joystick. Same as is happening in RoF. Any ideas guys?
Elem Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) If I were you I would check the input folder and files within to see if they are marked as read Only. I'm not saying that is definitely the issue but something I think is worth eliminating. Bingo Extreme One! You guessed right, the input folder had been changed to Read Only. But how the hell did that happen? That, and I also needed to update my joystick drivers has put this problem to bed. Many thanks. Edited April 13, 2014 by Elem 1
