Landing Gear Damage?

I was looking through my IL2:1946 screenshots the other day and saw a few detailing the difference in damage model in 1946 and then BOX today.

Has anyone in any plane ever remember having a single landing gear failure from combat damage? I'm talking one gear getting stuck partially extended or not extended at all?  No matter how much damage I get I never seem to get any failures like that in BOX from what I remember, and I've been playing on and off since release.

I do however remember getting heavy wingroot damage and seeing the flex while I flew in BOX, which we never got to see in 1946.

I have had a single gear fail on landing ,or had gear fail to raise because of damage, or had one piece of gear blown off.

I've had plenty of gear fail due to hard landings, but if I make it back to base I I always have all greens on the landing gear indicators letting me know everything should be good to go.  Once retracted I never seem to have any gear issues.

I get my wings blown off more times than what I would consider normal though. lol

I'd assume that possibly the hydraulic system for landing gear isn't modeled in this game?  In the above two pictures the 109 had one landing gear fail to extend fully after getting shot up, I still landed (though I'm not sure how).  The DO335 on the other hand got hit by flak and had one landing gear completely fail to extend. The tail is the only thing that kept me upright.

Yesterday in a 110 I got shot up pretty bad, huge holes all over the wings, flaps were ripped off, oil system/fuel/water rads were all leaking, yet I still managed to fully extend all gear and land without issue.

I'd love to see a more advanced damage model where gear can drop while in flight after being damaged.

ive seen that happen.

But usually that level of damage is catastrophic.

I've once had my left wheel (just the wheel) blown off from my Bf-109. I had no clue of this until I made a nice three-point-landing and my plane twisted around and did a nice kaputt and was left leaning on the engine. I was completely stunned what had happened, until I found this out from the recording.

I was very satisfied of the damage- and dynamics modeling after seeing that. I have the video stored still somewhere home.

I'm pretty certain that the P-51 (and maybe some other Bodenplatte aircraft) can suffer landing gear damage in combat, and overall it seems as if the damage model on those newer planes is somewhat more detailed than older releases. Which makes sense.

I've seen them drop off the aircraft but never drop(droop) from the aircraft while still being attached.

This feature in old (modded?) IL-2 was nice but happened far too often (IMHO)

You would have to have damage to hydraulic system and gear mechanical uplock system for it to happen.

We have seen it in gun cam footage but I (personally) doubt it was as common as  now perceived

I had both gear on a JU88 fail from a bumpy take off. all still showed down and locked on the indicators...

Not sure if this was related to an update or not, but I got in a dogfight with a Spitfire while in a G14 and got pretty hammered on the wings.  Made it back to base and went to lower my landing gear one light changed from red to off, while the other stayed red.

This was my first combat related landing gear failure in my history of playing the game.

I always F2 (external view) to be sure my gear is down and intact on finals. I do this in other sims too.

See DD 245 in the video starting at 1:10, Jason mentions airframe DM overhaul, then engine, then systems including hydraulics. So at some point in the near future ?
