i suppose matters of this import could be addressed in the 'Polls' section of the forum - let people vote on how the map borders should be handled and make suggestions there...not that general discussion isn't the place for it...

its just that eight pages on something that really shouldn't make much difference in the whole grand configuration of things...seems frenetic

A new flight sim chapter would not be complete without a manifesto from the Blitzpigs detailing why they will not be taking part.

Manifesto?

Where?

Basically there are only two of us left that occasionally will hop online for a stab at virtual flying,  The rest have moved on to other games or just have quit electronic gaming altogether.  The failure of CloD was a crushing blow really.

We were all very excited about it, but now, because of CloD, I'm afraid most no longer trust any new title until they see the reviews by real players, and no one will pre order any game anymore.

 Who can blame them?

So basically I don't understand where you are coming from Feathered.

I expressed my opinion of the matter at hand.  That is all.

If a slagging match is what you are after go someplace else.

If you are going to start acting like the days of the early RoF forum at SimHQ, where there was no tolerance of criticism, then I suggest you go there instead.

CLoD was a complete failure from jump, and there are more than one RoF detractors around - plus - you cant please everyone, so there will be some folks who will have loud concerns about this potential feature or that one.

the developers, moderators and community members have to accept it - nothing is perfect. Even iL2 took a while to be accepted and needed some polish to get to its lofty position back in the day...

we have to remember that, and let this one get off the ground - lets wait and see what the foundation looks like - before we condemn the house

Whoops! Yep, definitely not having a go. Sorry El! More harking back to old campaigns if you know what I mean. Boonty box, RoF DRM, Il-2 with mods, Clod on Steam and what not. Things we all feel like walking away from ( me included ) from time to time. I think what I was trying to say in a jocular fashion was, hang in there. These things have a way of smoothing themselves out.

Sorry!

No one is condemning the house .. it has yet to be built. As I said I cant speak for anyone else but I am going on the idea that the devs will be watching these threads and take note to what is posted..

Thanks Feathered. Even after all these years of reading posts by old timers, it's still hard to judge intent at times.   Sometimes I wish all of us IL2 vets could get together and have a good time talking about the sim, and just getting to know each other.   The times I have met folks from the forums have all been good.

Cheers mate.

And thanks to BlackSix for keeping the English speaking side of the house's thoughts under the microscope of the dev team.

And if the "unfairly" player get outside the boundaries of the map, is abducted to Godzilla Island?

;)

I'm for the IL2 style "endless landscapes" at the map borders. I remember the first mission in an excellent RAF desert war campaign. The mission maker had really been thinking outside the box and managed to put a whole airfield and your starting point way outside the map border. One man's cheat is another man's golden trick. I like having possibilities.

Yes, this allow a Sonderkommando Blaich Fort Lamy raide. :)
