Talisman Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Just a thought, but I wonder if it would it be viable, reasonably practicable or desirable to produce a separate version of IL-2 GB specifically optimised for VR users? For folks who fly single player off-line with VR, this might be a good thing. Might be good for on-line multiplayer VR users too, but might split the community. Thoughts? Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman
RedKestrel Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 To create an entire different version of the game for a relatively small group of players using an emerging technology would not be practical. Especially considering many of those players are using VR right now and are reasonably happy with the outcomes, so you probably wouldn't even get uptake from the entire VR portion of the community. 2
Voyager Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I think I'm missing something but why would that require a separate version? As I understand it, the main issues are lack of pixels per degree resolution and the current overhead of having two viewports, and the former is really about the headset technology and the latter seems to be more about the base 3D engine limitations, rather than the game later itself? 1
dburne Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I personally would not see any benefit, they have already done a very good job optimizing IL-2 for the VR customers. 5
