von_Michelstamm Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Assuming this is a bug? A lawn darting plane right below you that blows up in a fireball has the same "metal garbage can tossed on the sidewalk" sound that a belly landing plane does. It's so anticlimactic 1
40plus Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Haven't encountered this either. Big bada-boom when planes bite it at speed. . . . . usually mine
RedKestrel Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Not for me... if the plane blows up it makes a different sound for sure.
Napping-Man Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Happens to me, so you're not alone. I don't get a nice BOOM...but a weird metallic sound like you described. 1

Whenever I shoot someone down, (or an enemy pilot blacks out and goes hurtling into the dirt like a meteor), near me, i hear the metallic "clunk" sound. Edited October 28, 2019 by von_Michelstamm

Totally gotcha, I haven't experienced what you're reporting for other planes either. That last bit was just an attempt at self-deprecating humour.

I'm not sure I've been close enough to another plane exploding since the last patch to have heard it explode. I will pay more attention to see if I get this too.
von_Michelstamm Posted November 19, 2019 Author Posted November 19, 2019 It's still happening, for sure
von_Michelstamm Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 I think I've figured it out. The canopy is filtering out explosion sounds, but not the crash landing sound. That's why that's the only thing you hear. Not sure if we're supposed to hear an explosion at all over the engine, but we certainly aren't supposed to hear the collision sound.
