CreepiJim Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 S! Pilots, I thought I might shout it out, because this really impressed me today. It might not be a big thing for most simmers, but for me it was one of "the" moments that defines this game and its community. I was in my sturdy StuKa bombing the enemy airfield and on my way back, when a LaGG approached my 6. My gunner opened up on him and I tried to evade through the clouds as much as possible at low altitude. However, my engine took a hit and my gunner was wounded, so I tried to crash land. With the LaGG still on my 6, I opened up the canopy for a possible bail out. With many approaches I was actually not expecting to fight another fight, because I am used to "killing sprees" that want to shoot down everything even if their battle is already over. The russian pilot did close passes over me but did not engage. I managed to crash land the Ju, eventually to live another day. I had my HUD turned off, so I could not see who shot me down, but a big Kudos to you for such a great example of sportsmanship! This goes out to all of you with such exeptional sense of honour and fair play, so to speak. Cheers and stay safe! Blechbohrer AKA Andreas P.S. To the pilot in the IL-2 on runway 1: sorry for the "presents" :D 1
BraveSirRobin Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I, too, had a nice moment of chivalry in MP yesterday. My Lagg rolled to stop at the field and as I was waiting for the aircraft to despawn it became clear that I was being strafed by someone in a 109. However, that nice fellow was kind enough to give me a front row seat as he lawn darted just off the end of the runway. It was spectacular. I could not have asked for any better way to end a flight.
arjisme Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Yeah, last night I was on final to land my LaGG after flying on a lonely server for about 30 minutes with no one else in sight. Suddenly, I I saw tracers and was wounded and my aircraft damaged. I was still flying though and got to the runway where I made a mess of the landing (don't know if my controls were all still in place). I survived but had to wait the 15 seconds to leave the mission. I was sure I was going to get a 2nd strafing, but he never returned. All's fair, though, as far as I'm concerned. I had no complaints.
The_Math_Teacher Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Me too, in two different ocassions a LaGG pilot stop chassing me when he saw my plane was really damaged and I was flying straight trying to land, so I agree from time to time you face a real gentleman...
sallee Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 That's nothing. I'm so chivalrous that in my LaGG I make sure I never harm anyone and I always let them shoot the crap out of me. 4
Sokol1 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 He'd run out of ammo. Or spare some to shoot the chute case pilot bail out. Sokol1
Brano Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Or spare some to shoot the chute case pilot bail out. Sokol1 Happened to me today. Some ritterkreuz hero shot my ars on parachute. What he didnt know was, that I was allready dead, because ground MG crew put some bullets thru me before
arjisme Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I got a chuckle later on that same server when I saw the same 109 pilot that sniped me on landing get taken out by a LaGG in a one-on-one fight. He got the LaGG smoking first, but ended up losing the fight. 1

johncage Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 for every 1 moment like that, there are 10 moments where they chase you relentlessly until you parachute, at which point they start firing on your pilot
II./JG27_Rich Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 You'll be able to tell if he's a real nice guy if he blips his guns as he gives you a wing waggle
