Good Evening,

With the new patch I have noticed a significant increase in load time (starting of application). Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

Just out of interest, how long does it take to load your game up?

Try it now. Mine takes 55secs with an SSD

When you try log in offline it takes about 5 secs, so it's probably the online account verification that takes so long. Honestly I don't even mind, there are far more important things that need fixing.

I feel like it's taking a while since the update too. It wouldn't be so bad, but when I'm building missions, it's very frustrating when you keep having to make changes, then test them. Starting the game takes longer than the mission test, or the editing takes, so really does increase mission building time.

Really long load times for me when using PWCG, even in off line mode it can take up to 3 minutes to load a mission.  Just normal log on, on line, does take about a minute and I also have a SSD.

Two different times: game start and mission load.  I think the OP is referring to game start.

Initial game start (offline) is about 30 seconds from an SSD.  That is start of load to entering the hangar.  Online adds to it ... maybe doubles it?  Not really sure.  So usually 30 seconds to a minute from hitting play to getting into the hangar.

Mission load times are highly variable.  A very small mission will load in seconds.  A very big one will take minutes.

PWCG missions do take a long time to load but I don't know that they are representative.  PWCG text mission files can exceed 800K  lines.  It's a lot of stuff to not only parse but then put together.  They are also text and not binary.  Given that they are a bit of an extreme case.  What I have noticed is that the progress bar completes in seconds but then it is a very longtime to actually finish and enter the mission.  Would need a developer to tell me what that time segment is doing.

Noticed a marked time increase from startup to hangar as well. A bit puzzling - why would online account verification, or loading the same static airplane model into the hangar take so long compared to previous versions?

Unless (speculation mode on) the game does the local assets check every time - that wouldn't bode well for the future with increasing number of content on our drives after release of every expansion...

I like the idea of going-offline trick Ouky suggested above. Will have to check myself how much time it saves on my PC. I don't do multiplayer nor play campaigns anyway.

I've noticed longer load times for the game in general and loading into quick mission too. This is probably an optimisation thing we'll see patched out when boden goes live.

You know, you can use PWCG at the same time as Il2 and just Alt-TAB between them.  No need to exit Il2 to use PWCG, just exit the missions menu and then after generating the next mission, switch back to Il2 and then enter the Missions Menu again where the new mission will be shown.

As for mission loading - that is dependent on a few things, Map Size, Objects, Frontline Density for example.  Smaller Maps will load very quickly especially in QMB but larger maps - they take some time.  PWCG takes a while but the mission area is quite well populated.

A hint for speeding up drive under Windows is to turn off Windows Indexing on your System / Programs Drive.  This if you have a secondary drive for Data like documents, Pics, Multimedia etc.

It's the bottom option which you uncheck and apply to all folders and files.

It disables advanced search capabilities on the drive but speeds read and write access as it no longer has additional search data added to every file on the drive.

Remember the problem where you hit the green START button and after a bit the Dialog Box popped up saying that it didn't load?  Just hit the Start button again and all works.  That was fixed in an update.   Now, since the last update it is happening again.   I believe it is just a timeout issue, but it is a pain-in-the-tail-assembly.

Thanks for the info.  Only had time to try on one mission with PWCG and the load time does seem to be faster.  Also thanks for the tip Alt-TAB works grape (um great):good:.
