Expert Visibility Bugs

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi guys, I'm posting here because WWI planes have a different size and profile than WWII planes. Visibility is different.

I made two bug reports regarding expert visibility after the
3.201 update. Planes are disappearing at certain angles and altitudes within a radius of less than 3km, usually between 2km and 500m. Another bug seems to be known, the cloud bug - planes disappearing against the clouds. I made three track videos. I put the download link because YouTube is losing quality when uploaded. As these are visibility bugs, it is better to see in the best quality possible. But the videos don’t have the same quality as my monitor, but you can see the problem with ease. If you want, test the tracks to see if the same thing happens on your monitor.

I tested on two monitors that I have here at home. My personal Philips IPS 298P4QJEB (2560X1080p) and my spare Samsung BX2350 (1920X1080p).

The graphic settings are as below.

The bug descriptions:

1 - Planes are disappearing in some patches of clear skies when approaching me around 2km, and then reappearing about to bounce, 500/700m away. It appears to be related to the sun position, which might spread the problem to different times of the day, positions and altitudes in relation to the observer. The rendering is extremely thin after the 3.201 update and the sun effect might be turning planes invisible. They are just engulfed into thin air and spotting in-game is extremely poor now.

2 - Planes are disappearing against the clouds. The other day I noticed that I was seeing several flaks around the map, but no planes. Checking a few tracks, I realized that airplanes were disappearing or not being visible against the clouds, giving the impression that flak was tagging thin air.

Conclusion: it is really hard to get some spatial perception going on, even at very close distances, below 2km. as I mentioned in the bug report, I have to fly through a periscope, with zoom at 50/60% or more, and even then it is hard to spot contacts and get a view of who is around me. The missions resume being people bumping into each other and flying low to identify people above, which is an inversion of the Dicta Boelcke in general.

I just hope they address these things as soon as possible. Missions have been basically a paintball match through a maze, peek-a-boo style.
