SeaW0lf Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 (edited) Brief Description: planes are disappearing against the clouds on the 3.201 update in Flying Circus (I'm not sure if this is an old bug, I just noticed it when testing the visibility bug of planes disappearing, a bug that I also reported. Detailed description, conditions: planes are disappearing against the clouds. The other day I noticed that I was seeing several flaks around the map, but no planes. Checking a few tracks, I realized that airplanes were disappearing or not being visible against the clouds, giving the impression that flak was tagging thin air. Additional assets (videos, screenshots, logs): I attached the video below because YouTube is uploading with quality loss. I also attached the track to anyone who wants to test on their monitors. The graphic settings are as below. IMPORTANT NOTE: The bug happen both on my personal monitor, a Philips 298P4QJEB Ultrawide 1080p IPS, and my spare monitor, a Samsung BX2350 (the latter with lower graphic settings, but the problem remains exactly the same). Video 1 (Expert Visibility Cloud Bug Report 01 / mediafire.com / 89MB): track recorded in multiplayer without icons. I'm just using icons on the track to indicate where the plane is. If I remember correctly, I didn't see the plane being shown in the video. I could only see the flak. When he left the clouds I had given up already, thinking it was just random flak. The video is self explanatory. Download track here (mediafire.com). Summary: when this happens on a mission (apparently more often than not), coupled with the fact that a lot of us are having a hard time to identify anything below the horizon, makes us fly for one or two hours without seeing anything. Then we will review the track and realize that there were several planes in the vicinity. It would be very appreciated if this critical bug [at least it appears to be to me, in two types of 1080p monitors] are addressed as soon as possible. Your PC config data (OS, drivers, specific software): the specification of my rig is in my signature. My GTX 1060 6GB is with the latest driver (440.97). Edited October 24, 2019 by SeaW0lf
Jason_Williams Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 This is not a bug. This is a limitation of the rendering technology for small objects and clouds. I've explained this several times before. No need to keep reporting this as a bug. Nothing can be done about it now. Total re-write of our rendering is needed and even then it may not go away. SeaW0lf Posted October 26, 2019 Author Posted October 26, 2019 Thanks for the clarification. I heard about flickering against the clouds and stuff, but there are dozens of pages in a few threads lately and I saw no video or something concrete (inconclusive talk). I seldom go to the other forums. Some people talked about it in FC (online I think as well), but just talk, asking to remove the clouds from the missions. Since I was studying my tracks regarding visibility and I found this, I just reported where I felt it belonged. Regards,
